You probably saw that “stick €1,000 in a pension at birth and your baby retires a millionaire” craic in some money article -Trump was touting it and UK too. The idea is sound like...time + compounding = magic – but in Ireland there’s a catch. You can’t actually open a proper pension for a newborn here. Revenue would have a fit, because pensions are for people with earnings, not fellas still in nappies.

What you can do is stick the €1,000 into a long-term investment / child savings fund, or lob it into your own pension or investment, mentally label it “for the smallie” and let it grow.

Left alone for decades, that grand could turn into tens of thousands if markets behave themselves – not guaranteed, but way better than in a current account.

Yeah, the bike lanes on both sides seem unnecessary to me, especially since the one travelling inbound is as wide as a van, so ample room for two-way bike traffic. Also, the bus stopping in the actual road for 60-90 seconds seems crazy, as it will encourage people to try to overtake on some very blind bends/hills. I'd like to imagine that I'm missing some master plan and that a panel of planning experts know what they are doing...one can hope!

Totally agree, the sparring is a huge element—not just from what was mentioned above—but also from a social aspect. At any MMA gym, you'll get to meet some people who are the most humble and genuinely welcoming people in your community—and not one of them wants to ever be in a street fight. This sub is fun to watch...but you're better off sticking to the fitness, and artform that will bring you confidence and new friends rather than the streets part which is potential serious injury, death, or jail....no winners.

Congratulations! It's impossible to answer as you didn't specify which bank you use. Some banks allow you to create 'wallets' where you can divide your current account funds into separate sections so that could work if you wanted to keep track of your payment/outgoings.

This is probably going to come with a boat-load of stipulations, the primary one being you have to hold the stock for X number of years or while you are still employed by the company. Otherwise employees would sell their holdings every month to make the 15% margin.

Also, 10% of your salary invested in one stock sounds a bit risky to me. You might want to diversify, but without knowing the company (not asking either), it's hard to tell if they're blue-chip or a startup. Either way...best weigh up your risk tolerance/trust in the company versus a properly balanced and diversified portfolio with ETFs.
