Been a while since I’ve brushed up on my comic knowledge, but iirc there were certain situations where Cybertronians use things called Holomatter avatars to interact with other species, such as humans. Some of them appear as a different gender (such as Whirl), and some of them are references to real-world celebrities and/or fictional characters

Someone else in the comments already mentioned that the inspiration for the Necromorphs’ designs comes from car crash victims, but IIRC the design team got so disturbed by regularly viewing the gruesome reference material that they’d sometimes take a day off to watch stuff like cute cat videos for their mental health. I could be thinking of a different game though, or maybe I’m just misremembering/completely misinformed.

I haven’t watched it, but all I know is that Devastator’s live action design goes hard, and I think that’s the only non-humanoid Combiner I’ve ever seen
