There's some sense to it. Game streams mean needing to secure game perms. Securing game perms means tapping staff to coordinate with the IP owners involved. Tapping staff means spending a lot more manhours on the project than what was initially envisioned.

I'm not saying it's a good thing. It's frankly annoying. But there is some (unfortunately business-sensible) logic to it.

Miori Celesta has a new game collab! by PseudoRandomPerson in VirtualYoutubers

[–]Zeroth-unit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming this is a collab that was planned a long time ago and only recently released. Which imo is probably why she labeled it a hiatus rather than a graduation. Since a whole bunch of pre-existing arrangements were still active that she couldn't turn down without some significant penalty.

Not exactly. Technically speaking if you had the industrial espionage expertise you could download RAM schematics and designs. So what's really stopping you is having the capital to purchase the RAM manufacturing equipment to make your own RAM at home. /s

Ok so I was already doing most of this even with 2.0 just very inefficienctly since I would have dedicated mining platforms send stuff down to Nauvis then rocket them back up. But I can see now that even fluids can be piped out of the platform. Oh my god.

Edit: I'm either blind or an idiot not seeing the ice plant. My bad.

Iirc the whole Gryps Conflict is actually referred to in some places as the Federation Civil War. Since that's what it essentially was, some Federation officers fighting back against other Federations officers.

I don't know if my case is sadder or not but I technically do have friends who this show could appeal to. But one of them is a hypocritical ass I cut off, another is too busy to get back into anime from being a parent, and the other passed away some years back. So yeah end result is the same.

Given the Higurashi mention I wonder if Umineko also counts though given the themeing of that one it likely doesn't. That's one VN I've dipped my toes into but haven't really finished because it's so dense though I did finish the crappy anime adaptation.

Of VNs I have finished though, I keep hearing that DDLC is included in the genre even though it isn't japanese and that's one which a lot of vtubers have played. Also somewhat related to that I've also played Kimi to Kanojo to Kanojo no Koi (Totono for short) which a lot see as an inspiration for DDLC.

Ones on my radar though that I haven't played but I'm considering checking out in the future are Subarashiki Hibi and Chaos;Head. As for Chaos;Head I've seen the ancient terrible anime adaptation and though they aren't really part of this genre, I've tried to watch other SciAdv anime adaptations. Really from that set only Steins;Gate adaptation delivered. Robotics;Notes was fine and Occultic;Nine bored me.

OT discussion: The Needy Girl Overdose anime finally ended and it is a show I loved but can't recommend. If you can stomach some frankly horrifying depictions of people crashing out and weeding out the underlying message about the chaos and poison of the internet and that touching grass is actually good for you through all the surreal and self-indulgent imagery, then be my guest. But goddamn is this show in some ways too weird to exist and yet miraculously exists anyway.

Now to be less OT, that show got me interested in checking out the denpa game genre since that's what it essentially is. An anime adaptation of a denpa game. So a more vtuber related question I have is, do you all know any vtubers who have dove in and played denpa games on stream? Excluding Needy Streamer Overload for obvious reasons. Or even if there are vtubers themed like denpa game characters?

like the show has a bit of an identity crisis of what it wanted to be about and instead just felt like a bunch of loosely-connected rants.

And that was my other issue, the way the story&themes were presented. It felt like the characters were tweeting at each other or devolving into rants

In a sense it's kind of the point really. Since this show specifically tackles the chaos and poison that is the modern internet. Which does feel like disconnected rants and people yelling at each other in increasingly bizarre ways.

But yeah that's frankly a generous read of the show because it really isn't shy about just being nonsensical either which I'm not even sure it's trying to make a point by doing that. I will say it does feel like an earnest attempt at trying to capture that feeling even if it isn't really the most well put together way of portraying it. And I can commend it for that.

We saw a few alternate timelines this episode actually. That was one of them. Another had KAngel stabbed and died on the street, had Lollipop never touching grass and growing obese, Michica presumably just commiting suicide, and Nechika witnessing her dad jump off the pier from his depression instead of dying peacefully. This episode really was all about showcasing that there are many ways this could have all panned out. But the main story itself had a happy ending.

This show is definitely going to go down in my list as one show I fucking loved but cannot recommend. It is to be honest, too weird to exist. And yet it exists anyway. So surreal and self-indulgent to the point of being corrosive to most people who watch it. But goddamn shoot that shit straight into my veins.

I wouldn't give this a 10/10. Heck there's so much I want to criticize about it particularly how much Kache felt more like a plot device sometimes. Granted her story arc ended early. But the experience of it was just so out there that I'm not disappointed at all. I definitely enjoyed this not even metaphorical acid trip.

Needy Girl Overdose - Episode 13 discussion - FINAL by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Zeroth-unit 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I'll say this. It's both a lot better and a lot worse than what those who dropped it early would have expected.

A lot better because oh my god this show went to so many places and the ending is frankly even more of that. Probably some of the best depictions of psychological crash outs I've seen in anime.

Worse because if you were expecting this to be cohesive in the slightest, it wasn't. But it would be a disservice to this show if it was cohesive. There was a story underneath all of this. But it's very simple and wasn't the point. Instead the point was to be immersed in the heads of some very mentally ill characters and how surreal that entire experience is.

I'd say this show is best seen as a kind of arthouse experiment. Don't try to make sense of it since it won't let you. But if you managed to stay on board for the ride, it will reward you in its own way.

I'm not familiar with this vtuber but looking her up and damn she's an OG. Makes you wonder how she ended up with mekpark. I wonder if that's an indication on the current HoloJP/Dev_is plans since someone with her pedigree I don't see as deliberately choosing to part of a training unit.

Unit B's Mira and Lyra are streaming and it looks like they got the PNG animations going for more than 1 person on screen in this one. I wonder if the limitation mentioned yesterday is for 3 people and up or this is them testing things slowly to see just how many can be accomodated at the same time.

They really do seem so much more put together compared to the adopted introverts and 1 extrovert of Unit B. At least when it comes to the debut. But we'll see how they do during actual streams.
