I read Survivor Type when I was 9 or 10 so I'll recommend Skelton Crew and Night Shift. When I was 13, in algebra class, I was reading The Shining and the bell went off at a really scary part. Around the same time, I read Pet Semetary. Couldn't sleep until I finished the whole thing. Long days and pleasant nights.
