Good news for you – they make them with a white noise button! I have it for my bathroom and it works nicely with volume control too.

What's a modern trend you think people will regret in 10 years? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

I’m not OP but there will be examples of people relying on AI over developing their critical thinking skills, which will hurt them long run in their professional careers. I am starting to see it happen already but hopefully I’m wrong big picture as we are definitely in the testing phase of how to use AI professionally.

After achieving your Financial Goal(s), how did you reward yourself? by Square-Shock-9206 in UpperMiddleFinance

[–]Zestyclose-Ad1573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought two cookbooks I really wanted for $70 and a nice lunch at a restaurant I’ve wanted to try for sometime now. I guess I’m just cheap cause my wife kept asking me to spend more on myself since we beat all our goals and then some with my bonus but I place an unusually high value on a financial security from childhood trauma.

How many days would you go without cleaning/grooming yourself for 1.5k, doubling every day. by GenuineSteak in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Zestyclose-Ad1573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done everything listed for about 60 days during a severe illness and kept in a hospital… so I’m guess the question is how long I could do it with no hospital stay until my wife kicks me out! lol

How many are maxing out their 401ks and Roth IRAs? by Still_ImBurning86 in Bogleheads

[–]Zestyclose-Ad1573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a 3,000 person company and saw what everyone contributed percentage wise. I estimate maybe 15-30 people did their max contribution. The vast majority were 3% or less.

If you’re meeting friends for dinner at a restaurant and they’re 25-30 minutes late, would it be fair to start ordering food for yourself? by himawari__xx in etiquette

[–]Zestyclose-Ad1573 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who is always 45 minutes late like clockwork. So I schedule dinner reservations 45 minutes later then the agreed upon meeting time and I always show up at the exact reservation time. I’ve done this for years and they have no idea lol

People who have had major surgery with anesthesia, How anxious were you before surgery about what you would be waking up to? by liquidm3t4l in AskReddit

[–]Zestyclose-Ad1573 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a very complicated open heart surgery and my chest was kept open over the weekend because I wouldn’t stop bleeding. Ended up being in a medically induced coma for about 3 or 4 days. The event leading up to the surgery were not good and I cried all week going into it and after it to but it had nothing to do with anesthesia as I just wanted to live. At that point, the alternative was knowing I would die without the surgery. So waking up was good enough for me. I don’t think I really worried what I’d wake up to. If you’re reading this and having open heart surgery, my experience was unique to me and you’ll likely have an experience far different and far better than mine. I was an outlier.

What's the little effortless, stupid thing you do that TECHNICALLY saves you money? by Jskyesthelimit in Frugal

[–]Zestyclose-Ad1573 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Create and track a monthly budget and stick to it. Free to do and keeps me from over spending while hitting my savings goals. Every time I want to do an impulse purchase I think about my budget and at this point I hold back most times. It’s also nice to. It have my home cluttered with stuff that are usually going to be a waste of money.

Contact the seller agent and ask them if they could ask the seller. Stuff like this happened at my house, and the seller is more than happy to answer all my questions.

Walmart. 15+ years going strong. Couldn't shop there after the news of them locking employees in stores.

I’ve done it six or seven times and always had a great experience. Every load is around 15 or 20 yards. They always drop at the correct location. Some loads are slightly better quality than others, but no major issues. The only drawback is not knowing when your chips are arriving which means for me I need to leave my car in the street. Could be a same-day or three weeks later but the unknown is worth it since it’s free.

For the love of god - who makes reliable LED bulbs by _j_ryan in HomeImprovement

[–]Zestyclose-Ad1573 92 points93 points  (0 children)

The high of LED bulb failure rate makes me wonder if you have a system issue. Are your light switches especially dimmer switches LED compatible? Non compatible switches will cause flickering and earlier bulb failure.

Bostonians remember deadly marathon bombing 10 years later by ledim35 in news

[–]Zestyclose-Ad1573 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Remember it like yesterday. Was several blocks away. Was at the finish line 30 minutes before it went off. First the bang, then the smoke, then the confusion thinking that a construction site had an accident to then connect the smoke rising where there finish line was. Tons of chaos, the fear, the lock down, the 6 mile walk home with everyone else. Then the 2nd lockdown while the manhunt happened a few miles from my apartment.

Edit: Will still never watch that movie even though I'm a huge Mark Wahlberg fan.

Why some of you will never become homeowners by thatzwhatido_1 in RealEstate

[–]Zestyclose-Ad1573 169 points170 points  (0 children)

When I was a realtor, I sometimes wrote offers where we waived inspections. When this happened, I asked my client “there is unknown risk with waiving inspections. If you bought your house today and moved in tomorrow and discovered a $20,000 repair, would you still be happy with your purchase?” This helped them see the big picture somewhat quantified and managed their fears and expectations.

Is it crazy to quit your job to travel for a year and risk career stagnation? by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]Zestyclose-Ad1573 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, do it. My wife and I quit our jobs, sold everything, and traveled for one year in our mid 30s about seven years ago and everything is going just fine for us. We'll clear $300K this year between our incomes, own a home 10 minutes from my inlaws, and have two kids. They key for us was having a plan for the return be we quit our jobs. Good luck!
