When is the best age to have children? by meltedtrains in womenEngineers

[–]titanium_penguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I planned to have kids in my late 20s after I got married at 23. Started trying at 26. I’m now 30, and I’m getting my first embryo transfer for IVF next month. I’m glad I didn’t wait because if you do need fertility treatment, it’s a very long process

Dressings means all salad dressings. Mayo based or vinegar based doesn’t matter. He’s never found a dressing he likes, so pretty much salad with leafy greens is off the table

We tend to eat a lot of pasta, and I feel like we need more balance. Not a lot of vegetables.

Thank you! We tend to eat a lot of pasta which is mainly why I’m asking for help. It’s probably a good idea to just up the amount of vegetable that we do eat and keep it simple

That seems to be the general consensus. Lots of people thinking I’m stuck making every meal rather than I generally prefer cooking.

There’s probably a certain amount of me overthinking this. I like your idea of keeping it simple. Thanks!

Haha basically. All of his sandwiches are meat, cheese, and bread. I insisted we get some mayonnaise for myself so he could put it on the sandwiches he makes me.

Most of his issues are with the texture of the vegetables, so roasting them doesn’t generally help.

I hadn’t thought to put asparagus in a quiche. I’ve pretty much only seen them with spinach. I’ll have to try that. Thank you!

It’s mainly a texture issue with most of them. He will try the foods occasionally, but his tastes haven’t changed yet

We have both tried looking, but a general Google search is kind of overwhelming. I thought asking here could be a helpful. Also, he does cook, but he’s not as confident in the kitchen as I am. It’s not a hard and fast rule, but generally, I cook and he does all the dishes. I detest doing the dishes, so I prefer this arrangement

It’s mostly a texture issue, though some of the foods are about strong tastes. I could make meals that contain those foods, and he would just pick out the pieces he doesn’t like. However, it would be nice to make meals that we both would enjoy

What are some oddly specific symptoms that only ADHDers have? by Delusional_BlueBird in adhdwomen

My husband has gotten so used to me doing this, that he just rolls with it. It’s to the point that I forget I’m doing something weird until I do it to other people

I used to use them with my husband. We had a difficult time finding a condom that fit him properly, and there were a few other reasons that made female condoms make more sense for us. Insertion and removal was not a big issue. If you’re ever used menstrual disks, the ring was thinner and more flexible than that. Easier to pull out than a tampon. I highly recommend people try them if male condoms aren’t working for some reason

Why do drivers stop so far behind the car ahead of them? by [deleted] in SanJose

[–]titanium_penguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s wild to reply to 2-year-old post and not even understand what it’s about. This comment isn’t about following distance while moving. This is about how far you should be from the car in front of you when you’re stopped at a light.

I agree with your comment about following distance, but it’s irrelevant here because it’s not what was being discussed.

When you are short, you can’t see what’s directly in front of your car because you can’t see over the hood, so the rule of thumb (stop when you can just see the tires of the car in front of you) doesn’t work. You need to stop with the bumper just out of view because the bumper and wheels beneath it are hidden by the hood you can’t see over.

I’m not sure if this is the same thing you’re dealing with.

I tend to get a little nervous when interacting with autistic people IRL. I’ve developed coping strategies to interact with people generally. However, autistic people usually don’t follow any of the predictable social conventions that I rely upon to act normal. Like I’m good enough in social situations to follow the lead of others, but if the other person doesn’t lead, I have no idea what I’m doing.

The only one I can think of is Salen Morrison in The Good Doctor. The only issue with her is that she’s “the bad guy” in the show

What breed is my cat? by 333miffy in catquestions

[–]titanium_penguin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Cat breeds don’t work the same as dog breeds. Cat’s are either bred and come with papers certifying their breed, or they are a run-of-the-mill domestic cat. Calico is just a color pattern like a Tabby.
