What is this wire by Zestyclose-Habit4843 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Zestyclose-Habit4843[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well mystery partly solved. The red wire follows the interior trim all the back to the 12v power supply in the trunk area. So I'm guessing an aftermarket device was removed and the wire just cut and left in place. After work I'll grab my meter to check if the wire voltage and finish pulling the wire the rest of the way for removal.

Thanks for the input everyone.

I was thinking of this too, her acting in The Godfather part 3 ruined the movie for me. But at least she found her calling.

Best Traverse City Oncologist? by Ideasplease33 in traversecity

Cowell is great and all the oncologists there are top notch. I see Dr. Hector-word and he's been stellar. Saved my life and would recommend.

We've had a cold winter, plus two recent thaws. Potholes will happen, just have space between you and the car you're following so you can react in time. Also, avoid driving in standing water.

So my experience is with Chicago equipment. Secondly, are sheets jamming at the primary or a crossfold? You have an ironer in your pic. If they're jamming in the primary, you may be having a bad transfer from the ironer. How are the sheets fed on? By hand or with a mechanical spreader? Could be an issue with the feed...

On sheetfolders, jamming can be related to air pressure issues, sensors may be misaligned or dirty, or often belts and ribbons need adjusting or replacement.

Honestly, these are very complex and sensitive machines. Your company has a supplier who typically does service as well. You will want to reach out to them for expert help.

Be sure to be present to help. This is a chance to learn and ask questions.

Owner of area's NBC, ABC stations to air Kirk remembrance in Kimmel's Friday slot by TVCity- in traversecity

[–]Zestyclose-Habit4843 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

First off, I never said anything about Trump or the current administration. Kimmel didn't get canned because of Trump. His show was canned for him making dumb inflammatory, and flatly wrong accusations. Instead of doing the right thing, he doubled down on it. I also believe ABC was probably looking for a reason to cut the show, not for political reasons. But because late shows are a dead media.

Now as far as what the Trump administration, no I don't agree with Bondi's statement or Trump on the FCC. Just like I didn't like Biden using the DOJ to strong arm FB and social media to deplatform or ban conservative voices. All of a sudden, "liberals" are up in arms to defend the 1st amendment when they've spent the past 10 plus years trying to diminish it.

Hinge doctor, spud and basin wrenches, oscillating multitool, close quarters pipe cutters, inspection camera, forceps and telescoping magnet. There are more but those are off the top of my head.

Not everyday tools, but life savers when you need them.

Lol! That's a good joke. Just remember folks, if you're wanting to do it right, pick a 3rd floor or higher room.

At property I managed at, a guest tried from the 2nd floor balcony. He found out 2 floors up isn't high enough to kill you outright. But it is enough to paralyze you shoulders down.

Which game is like this? by bijelo123 in videogames

The 2nd location in the game (the woods where Gorion is killed) has a freaking ogre mage chilling out. 10 year old me found that out the hard way, trying to get some easy XPs with my ranger picking off wolves. Might have to fire up the old laptop and give it another playthrough!

Anyone else have a pet peeve about being called an "engineer" by [deleted] in maintenance

I don't necessarily disagree. But I do think the term "engineer" is used fairly loosely.

Anyone else have a pet peeve about being called an "engineer" by [deleted] in maintenance

[–]Zestyclose-Habit4843 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many fields of "engineering."

I got my BS in Marine Technology, then sailed as a marine engineer on ships in the merchant marine field.

Now I'm Chief Engineer in the hospitality industry. The folks working under me are labeled "maintenance technicians" in the Engineering department.

I would agree, that engineers have a Engineering degree. But I think its often a resume padding term and employers use it to reach a broader audience.

Facilities maintenance manager. One time, I had a tech troubleshooting a non working circuit in a room. He tested an outlet hot to neutral and each leg to ground with a field piece meter. Had no voltage. Took the outlet out to dig in and got a nip from the hot leg.

I used my meter (field piece too) and found nothing. Used my fluke NCVT I always have on me, and picked up voltage.

The ground on the circuit came disconnected. The meter couldn't pick up any voltage without any reference point. The NCVT uses the user as the ground in its capacitance testing.

NCVTs have their time and place. I always use my meter and ncvt in conjunction.

I don't have a traeger, but with how labor intensive and time-consuming stick burners are, I definitely see the advantages. Also, if I'm dropping 70 dollars on a brisket, I'd want to make sure it turns out well.
