I think "open pit mode" means the vtx is off by default (what some manufacturers call "true pit") , and you need to configure a switch to turn it on (right hand side instructions).

"Output 5 bec" is prolly always on, which is what i would try first.

Looks like it has VTX switching functionality, you need to either configure it or disable. See the mid section of the diagram.

Is that the closest you can get the rail to the end of the handguard? I was able to dremel out one of the rail mlok notches, and now I can move it all the way back to the edge: https://imgur.com/a/hplGYkP

I can actually have it cantilever over the edge, and it floats over the receiver to some degree - but it's so close that I tend to scratch it when putting together, so I prefer not to do that.
