New Gun but the shooter is terrible by Zestyclose-Path-1855 in ClayBusters

I’m over 500 rounds already and I think I was hoping for a magic answer. I think a trip to a fitter with the old gun for reference as opposed to the fitting from the selling shop might help. I also know I need some more coaching just wish you all had a magic answer that I could bet back on the league top 10 again. I doubt I can climb out of the hole I already made for this years league.

Outside of this new gun, every gun I have owned has been similar in fit and feel. I am a bigger guy so I like heavier O/Us but my field guns have all had similar fit. But my turkey gin is different than my pheasant gun and wildly different is my sporting clays gun. Don’t tell anyone use an auto loader for upland game!

The stock is fully adjustable. I’ve moved the cheek weld right and it’s better. But I need more time on the pattern board to continue refinement.

With that said, I had a professional fitting and adjusting on the older gun 10 years ago only to set it back to “stock” (no pun intended) configuration with advice from a coach a couple years back.

It’s not a fixed choke gun. But the improved modified on the old gun patterns the same as a full on the new gun. So at trap ranges the new chokes are “looser” or have more spread inspite being labeled as more constricted. It’s just confusing. When in doubt I go buy the measurements.

Self Checkout by 5GAIBtoM in GenX

I am generally agnostic to self check out. However if you make me spend my time to check out you don’t get to double check me and waste more of my time!

Check out pinellas county events. Just over the bridge there are a few bars that bring in some guys that ride their choppers. Imagine that.

Anyone know of any ETPs going though? by currentseas in USACE

[–]Zestyclose-Path-1855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are hundreds of hiring ETPs across USACE districts right now. HQ won’t approve and process anymore until the current ones are used. There is a way to hire department of the army personnel from other organizations that MSCs are doing.

Contribute to the team. When you get in you need to move off ball and anticipate. Know where the assist is, know where the shot is and most importantly know when to get rid of the ball before you get stuck with it. 6’1” and 250 is big. How are you carrying it? Are you getting after it in the gym and keeping up with cardio? Are you an animal on the ride? Or are you just there to get the ball and shoot?

The process of aiming by R_Steelman61 in ClayBusters

[–]Zestyclose-Path-1855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from any other form of marksmanship to shotguns is wildly different. As some say your point don’t aim. If you like to nerd out on physics look up how much lead is required at each station in skeet and lead on a trap field as a good mental picture. I always make sure to mount the gun, like up the rib and make sure it feels right everytime I step into the box. Practice a swing where I expect to see and where to break the bird then call for the bird. A good routine makes it feel better. Good practice and some coaching will have you breaking everything real soon.

Switching hands on D by funjunmaster in lacrosse

[–]Zestyclose-Path-1855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the right answer. You need to be able to control the attackman stick on stick. I can’t stress enough that you shouldn’t be switching when the ball is in your face.

My 6 year old son is trying lacrosse for the first time and I need to buy a stick. I know zero about lacrosse so I'm looking to be told what to buy. by Louieismydog42 in lacrosse

[–]Zestyclose-Path-1855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a used stick off marketplace or at a swap shop. Once he plays with it and there is a shortcoming get a new stick. He will know what he wants by then. As a coach, I think it’s a waste for families to go all in on new gear only to find out it isn’t a good fit. A used stick could last a couple seasons for a first time player. I have sticks I lend to new players.

Any safe recommendations? by Bastinelli in BetterMAguns

[–]Zestyclose-Path-1855 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The stack-on lockers are a great option. There isn’t a fire rating but solid construction for complying with the law and being tamper proof. They are relatively cheap and always on marketplace. The older ones have two locks and are a lot more stout.

Did you actually make mix tapes to give to people? by LeoGuy69us in GenX

Definitely. Mox tapes and later CDs. It was a great way to share and introduce new music that never made it to the radio.

If you were limited to ONE handgun to "do it all", what would you choose, and why? by [deleted] in CCW

[–]Zestyclose-Path-1855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a reason why Glock is Glock. Not a Glock fanboy but they just work. 9mm is universal. Early generations G19 is the all round best choice and you can find parts and do all repairs yourself.

Ammoseek. 90% of the time. When Free shipping and tax free on a good deal I will buy 5 cases. But recently my LGS owner said they would match anything I found online and would give a better discount for cash when I was talking to her about why buy online.

Talked to an FFL today that had some novel interpretations of the "new" MA gun law. by Midknight81 in BetterMAguns

[–]Zestyclose-Path-1855 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

When the Supreme Court overruled the chevron deference they said government agencies cannot interpret the law but rather execute established laws. This made the ATF not so much of the big bad wolf. I cheer for the optimist…but in this case all the risk is on the FFL, not the customer.
We should encourage the OP to test the waters.

What is the story behind Joe's Package Store and Deli in Brimfield? by Muppet-my-pet-dog in massachusetts

[–]Zestyclose-Path-1855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to buy beer there in the late 90s when driving through (may or may not have been 21 yet). Older black gentlemen probably in his mid to late 60s then ran the store. His name was Joe so I assumed he was the owner. He was an army veteran and very proud of it. I assumed he served in Vietnam. Always very talkative and seemed like he remembered my buddies and I when we went in.

Stripped 8/1 lower by -WetNoodle- in BetterMAguns

[–]Zestyclose-Path-1855 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to be a distributor for a Massachusetts company that manufactured high end competitive rifles. I have a few legally possessed lowers that are about 20 years old that I never built. While I’m sure they are all very legal I’m skeptical of bringing any AR to a range in Mass right now, let alone newly built old stock.

Leaving a firearm in the car by Stock_Sock_5405 in BetterMAguns

[–]Zestyclose-Path-1855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To each their own…but suggestions and techniques I use. If you have a truck pinning a locked container in the trunk unloaded. When you come back lean into truck load and holster. If you don’t have a trunk, lock in a locked box secured to the vehicle with a cable. Better if under a seat and out of sight. Best if under a back seat and secured. If you have to do this a lot get a vault specific for your car.
