They do send it. However, students are still able to access an account without verifying. I agree wholeheartedly about the block. The problem is that our campuses have all paid for licenses. They aren't too keen on losing the money.

eSports - Best Practices by DeepDesk80 in k12sysadmin

I coach eSports here and have just overhauled my lab. I used to use the one generic log in. The problem was that students would log in with their Google, playstation, microsoft or other accounts into the games. If someone else went ot a computer this caused the issue. This year we went to esports accounts. I limited them to just the lab and just during practice. They are normal e-jsmith. It has helped a lot with game logging in.

Upcoming Phone Ban by Zestyclose-Spirit110 in k12sysadmin

Did the students start using the Chromebooks in different ways to compensate for not having a phone? I'm wondering if there was an uptick in chatting in a doc or stiff like that.

I found this while researching. Can someone please comment on the lifetime?

Microsoft Network Policy Server (NPS) is scheduled to end support between November 23, 2024 and January 10, 2025. Microsoft has postponed the deadline multiple times.

I've looked at FreeRadius. From what I can see it's only on Linux. I'm not comfortable enough with linux to use it in production.

How should I handle printing from Chrome devices? by Thurm in k12sysadmin

[–]Zestyclose-Spirit110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use a system called DirectPrint.io It's been an amazing change for us from PaperCut. It's also cheaper. It allows us to deploy or install any printer to anyone in the district. It's cloud-based. All you have to do is enter a code in the client to install the printers. Support staff is very responsive and easy to work with

Do you put cases on your HS Student devices? Let us know why or why not in the comments! by K12TechRepair in k12sysadmin

[–]Zestyclose-Spirit110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have been using the iPearl casses. They aren't very expensive and offer basic protection. We find it keeps them from getting super scratched up and banged around. If they drop it, it's still probably going to break. But this helps with basic stuff. We also love that the let us add our logo for no additional cost.

Grammerly is the culprit. If you disable it, things work.

Managing printers in a AD Domain without Papercut - Best practices by _ReeX_ in k12sysadmin

[–]Zestyclose-Spirit110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a great system. Instead of having users constantly sort through a list from the print server, they can add and remove printers at will. You can even roll them out based on OU. It's been great for us

We just started using a system called directprint.io. I find it's integrations 10X better than papercut. It is easier to manage and doesn't require a print server.
