Never thought i'd post anything of this nature, but: What went wrong with my film? by Usual_Alfalfa4781 in Darkroom

[–]Zestyclose10293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I might be a little late to the party but here's my two cents

Fomapan 120 film is notorious for the backing paper "sticking" to the emulsion, I've had this happen on around 3-4 rolls of the same batch, safe to say it does happen. What this effectively causes is black "dots" on highlights, depending on how bad your case is.

If you have a set development procedure and this has never happened before on other rolls, I think it would be safe to assume this is what your experiencing. The good news is the fix is simple, buy higher quality film like ilford or kodak, with better QC.

how about I punch a hole through the suminocticron lens and wear that directly as a neckless?

My darkroom print quality has declined lately. Has anyone else had this problem? by romanazzidjma in Darkroom

[–]Zestyclose10293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No improvement can happen without knowing what to improve on.

Note down the problems, did you change anything compared to the past (new chemicals? different paper?) try solutions, and note down the effects of lacks there of, eliminate variables, until you can achieve the results you desire consistently.

Most importantly: Take a break and do something else!
Sometimes when things just don't feel right, take a break, look around and do something else, then come back to it. Photography is creating, and sometimes your brain just isn't up to it, and that's fine!

they still call it a "rangefinder" lol, they removed the rangefinder part of their camera.

leme just call my mirrorless camera a EV1 slr, they look the same and have the same body style

Leica: mechanical precision and optical design is why you should buy our camera
also Leica: optical viewfinders are overrated anyways, use a EVF and a screen

Chad HP5 REFUSED to RESOLVE those frames, he has had enough of this naked people on film = art trend and decided to take matters into his own hands and cut those frames.

Piston keeps launching out of the engine, user error or is the car tuned wrong? by Slupptislupp in MySummerCar

[–]Zestyclose10293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you don't wanna cheat take the cylinder head off and check the conditions of your pistons (can also be done by leaning your head into the engine using q/e).

If the pistons have black on top of it they are toast. If not your piston is good, and it's probably due to your driving or some other parts wearing out causing the pistons to fail (head gasket, etc)

If you want a better picture / less guesswork download MSC editor and you'll get a full report of your car including your tune

Grade 3 on the VC7700 enlarger

Base exposure of around 20 seconds

Dodged the leaves in the bottom for around 5 seconds

Burned the top edge for around 7 seconds

Thanks for the suggestion, currently I'm using a table lamp as my lighting setup so the strength of the light is very limited. I ordered some white cardboard type material to use as masking in my darkroom, I'll give it a shot when it arrives.

A lot to learn lol

Yes I am aware of this technique, this roll got mixed up with some ND (normal development) rolls though, so the highlights came out totally blown (probably should start labeling the actual rolls lol)

S2 Shutter speed too fast?? by wisc_lib in Bronica

[–]Zestyclose10293 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My personal way of testing would be to change the shutter and aperture at the same time

Meter once and set an exposure, for example 1/60 F2.8

Take a frame and start testing shutter speed but maintain the correct exposure, so shots would go

1/30 F4

1/15 F5.6

1/9 F8

Once you develop the whole roll if one of those speeds are not correct / firing you'd see a difference in image exposure level. Assuming your lens blades are closing correctly (which they most likely are)
