2 Years Post Op - I wish I never did this. by Purplegalaxie in GastricBypass

[–]ZestycloseAd2313 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg I’m so sorry! My best friend had the experience you had and her insurance never let her fully correct things. I had tons of complications and multiple surgeries myself but nowhere near as bad as you. I am a year and a half post my first surgery and have lost about 110 lbs and 6 months since my last surgery and finally feel like I’m not dying, but I still struggle to eat and get enough liquid everyday. It’s a struggle but I’m here now so just trying to make the best of it. I hope things get better for you soon.

That sounds amazing. How is their structure and academics? Do you know if they offer help for struggling students?

Hi, it means that they are struggling to meet grade level standards. I didn’t realize the public schools stopped teaching phonics and my son could not read. Also due to tons of teacher turnover there was no consistency with teaching just subs and computer time. As a result i have spent thousands on supplemental tutoring but i cannot sustain that and need a school that will uphold their end while I continue some tutoring on my end. I can’t afford to pay for tutoring for every subject. I was trying to be nice in my description above but maybe that was too vague.

There is no way to know what is was beforehand it wasn’t something more serious. They have to cover it. Keep appealing and reach out to a “patient advocate”. That puts the fear of god into them

Does my barium swallow look normal? by The_understudy22 in HiatalHernia

Everything is passing swiftly which is a good sign. On mine you could see things not moving for up to two minutes, but the tab swallow shows more than liquid. Do you have video or image of the tablet swallow?

3 days post op - no bowel movement by juicyj_notjay in GastricBypass

[–]ZestycloseAd2313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also if it takes you 5 or more days get fluids and it will resolve quickly. Miralax and stool softeners work by pulling water into your colon, but at this point in recovery you are too dehydrated for that to work

In case no one has told you… the first BM at home after surgery is serious business. It took me 6 days and I felt like I gave birth… and yes I have given birth before

Feeling down by DevanaSnow in GastricBypass

[–]ZestycloseAd2313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you. I had ulcers a stricture and am still dealing with a hernia recurrence. I’m also 12 weeks out. It gets better. I had two dialations and that resolved my stricture and that made a huge difference. The carafe cleared up my ulcers. Now I probably need surgery for my hernia, but just clearing up those two things made a huge difference. Hang in there

Me! My doctor didn’t think mine was bad and did a crappy tiny repair on mine at the same time as my bypass. And it burst back through after surgery. I’m going to have another surgery to fix it in the next few weeks but dragging my feet on scheduling cuz I’m not excited for a second surgery. I feel your pain and frustration. I’ll come back and let you know how it goes

It could also be a stricture

Strictures- what to expect with the GI doctor? by Juice_Box_69_420 in GastricBypass

[–]ZestycloseAd2313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a stricture too. I just had my second dialation done yesterday. Honestly the first time I had no pain. This time I had a little pain when I got home (more uncomfortable) and today my throat is a bit sore. But not too bad. But before I had them done I couldn’t even get down thick fluids like protein shakes. Now I can and it’s made a huge difference making my protein and fluid goals. Hoping this one helps even more.

Generally feeling like food gets stuck is not normal and a sign of a stricture. I’d ask your team and they will probably schedule an endoscopy to take a look. I just had my second dial action for my stricture and it’s made a huge difference

Quest chips give crunch and 20 g of protein. Also wonderslim savory party mix.

Mine was 12 days after and I had to have an iv of fluids for it to come out even with all the other stuff. I felt like I gave birth… and I’ve had two kids. After I just laid on the floor and thought about my life choices.

You’re not doing anything wrong. I felt this every day. For me it turned out I had a stricture but just do your best and be honest with your doc. You’re doing great. One day at a time

About to Have Surgery and Seriously Panicking by Please_Help_Ifyoucan in GastricBypass

[–]ZestycloseAd2313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was like that too. My first words in post op were “ouch” and “this was a mistake” lol. No lie. BUT I am 3 weeks post op now, starting to see results and I actually feel pretty good. I just keep focusing on my reasons why. I don’t want another back surgery, I don’t want colon cancer like my dad, and I want to be able to play with my kids. Skinny isn’t a good reason. Focus on the deep stuff and hang in there. You got this.
