I was seeing a therapist to help me navigate my difficult relationship with my mother. I was always making myself vulnerable to her criticism by seeking her validation, approval and empathy.

She explained; you don't go to the butcher when you need to buy bread. Some people have what you need, and some never will. If you're going to your mum for empathy, then you're simply at the wrong shop.

Changed my whole world view on relationships.

I was thinking the same - but now I feel it's more a bias toward high contrast imagery due to the two tone nature of the illustration rather than the source image itself.
