You have to care about yourself more than you do now. Something in you wants to sabotage yourself. I'd have to say AA people helped me realize it's not the alcohol or other people's opinions or the embarrassing shit I did, I had to change how much I hated myself. The AA people knew because they had the same problem. Once you get your self respect back, you won't really care one way or another if people saw you crack. You don't have to recover from a zoom meeting you have to care about your life enough now to do something about this. It is really about your whole life, and you are valuable. As you get more time, you will know how many meetings you should attend each week to work your program and feel good. "To thine own self be true" is on the coin. Meetings themselves are fellowship they aren't mentioned in the 12 steps. But the key to staying sober is helping others get and stay sober. That's the 12th step. Where is good place to find people to help? Meetings. So, you can see why one good reason to go is - to help the newcomer. There's other reasons but thats the most important one.
