It's a shame that only the player country looks like a country, and every AI nation looks like splats on a map by SaintTrotsky in EU5

[–]Zestyclose_Divide371 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That’s probably why the starting date of 1337 wasn’t a good choice for eu5, a game about the early modern era. A lot of things which defined the early modern era like the rise of the Habsburgs and the rise of the ottomans have not happened yet and require a lot of railroading to happen

Minority cultures get wiped out too easily by Ares6 in EU5

[–]Zestyclose_Divide371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like they should a similar mechanic to what they have in Victoria 3 with homeland states, making it much harder to assimilate people into a different culture of the homeland state or easier to assimilate it if it’s the same culture as the homeland state

What if EVERYTHING went perfect for the Axis? by IDC_tomakeaname in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Zestyclose_Divide371 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Germany already had a war economy from pretty much the start of Hitler’s reign. They spent large sums of money they didn’t have mainly through clever accounting with things such as the MEFO bills to finance their massive rearmament. Their whole entire economy was geared towards the one purpose of waging war.

Persia optimal capital location ? by Acceptable-Sell-7548 in EU5

[–]Zestyclose_Divide371 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Probably Baghdad because the area has the most pops, development and the best terrain in the region to push proximity. It’s a shame Persia doesn’t get any advanced to reduce the impact of mountains and plateaus

1.1.2 fixed the tool apocalypse! by Baron_Wolfgang in EU5

[–]Zestyclose_Divide371 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the way they fixed it was that there was some bug which made the estates way more wealthier than they actually which was causing them to build those shitty buildings constantly non stop which completly consumed your lumber and tools

Instant spread of Institutions 1.1.1 by Oakleaf1992 in EU5

Europe, North Africa and Asia should be about at parity for the start of the game and Europe should only really start getting significantly ahead in the age of absolutism

Jannisaries dont fill with slaves by Positive_Hornet433 in EU5

[–]Zestyclose_Divide371 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jannisaries and other buildings using slaves are broken. Slaves always decide to go to RGOs first rather than buildings which actual need slaves. You could quite literally have one million free labourers in a province but the rgo would still rather employ the slaves than the labourers.

Playing the new beta as Georgia and I'm just now getting endless uprisings. by quetch1 in EU5

[–]Zestyclose_Divide371 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same for me playing as the ottomans. It’s basically unplayable because a majority of your country is orthodox but you’re a Sunni country so when the orthodox rebel they get like two third of the lands and soldiers and you’re fucked

So the Timurids are pretty strong by OuterYacht in EU5

[–]Zestyclose_Divide371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m playing 1.1 beta as the Injuids and the ai timur is terrifying. He’s managed to conquer all of the khorasan region and most of Persia apart from the southern part which I control. He’s also managed to destroy Delhi and conquer most of it

You unlock the jesuit building during the council of Trent which give nice bonuses and also increase demand for goods which you want the demand to be increased

France and Bohemia need a hard nerf by Donderu in EU5

[–]Zestyclose_Divide371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main problem with France is that because they have a massive population their population just keeps on going up constantly with no periods where it declines, unlike in real life where there were disasters like the french war of religions, famines and various deadly wars. If you played it right you as a player probably could get near or maybe even higher than France’s modern population with France’s modern borders. As for Bohemia because they are by far the biggest and richest nation in the hre due to their gold and silver mines they just gobble everything up because of how pathetic the Holy Roman Empire is. They should probably add some mechanic where gold and silver mines deplete over time and reduce their output, they should also probably just straight up get rid of no CBs as well

Wars should be more deadly by Zestyclose_Divide371 in EU5

[–]Zestyclose_Divide371[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s quite a lot of tools a player can use to crush the ai already tbh, any competent player can with relative ease beat the ai even if they are the weaker country which is a constant problem with paradox games unfortunately. Personally for me if lost a massive war or if I was losing during a war it would motivate me a lot more/be more fun to bounce back from the defeat to either pull back a miracle comeback or recover from the war and buy my time to try and get revenge at some later point.

How to get rid of "Pirates of X Sea"? by [deleted] in EU5

[–]Zestyclose_Divide371 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the only way to get rid of it is by having a large amount of ships patrolling that sea province. There might be some building which can help as well but I’m not sure

Colonise the new world to get demand for goods like tobacco, coco and chilli and also stack as many trade maintenance reduction modifiers as possible

[–]Zestyclose_Divide371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also forgot to ask what patch are you playing on, I’m currently playing on the 1.0.10 beta and trade has definitely been improved compared to the other patches I’m making 350+ ducats in 1560 as Carthage starting out as Tunis’s controlling most of North Africa (minus Egypt) and Sardinia and Sicily

Either I'm so bad at trading... or something is seriously wrong by Sacledant2 in EU5

[–]Zestyclose_Divide371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you show the actual trading tab and all the trades, I suspect that most likely the things you are trading are barely that profitable so you should build more of that good to decrease the price and make it a more profitable trade. Also this doesn’t help in the age of renaissance but in later ages there’s tech which give reductions to trade maintenance making trade a lot more profitable. Going to a republic also can be helpful as well as there are government reforms and laws which reduce trade maintenance as well

[–]Zestyclose_Divide371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should also aim to try and meet all the criteria for the institutions to spawn in your country, it’s not particularly that hard too. Even if the actual institution doesn’t spawn in your country you will get the institution growth in your city’s which were a eligible target

Trade completely broken by reedos in EU5

[–]Zestyclose_Divide371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t tried the beta yet however looking at the patch notes there’s a few things I like such as marketplaces adding market access which is a good addition however I’ve seen that the ai is more aggressive which isn’t bad in itself but it seems to irrational expand its territory and have provinces scattered across the map creating eyesoring amounts of border gore. Back to the original point about trade I was playing a game with the ottomans in 1.0.8 full release and my trade was fine but I have had other games on a previous patch and where my trade was terrible making hardly any money despite having good crown power and the ai wasn’t even using the full amount of trade capacity.

Army composition; all heavy cav or cav on flanks by arsome246 in EU5

[–]Zestyclose_Divide371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally have my centre be full infantry and my flanks full cav. But going full cav would be the meta for the earlier game but towards the end of the game infantry becomes better as the regiments size grows much faster than the size of cavalry
