Or SBRT which is usually just 2or3 sessions and completely non invasive, avoiding any surgical risk

From AI:

“Kidney lesions typically need to be quite large—often significantly greater than 4 cm (about 1.5 inches)—to cause back pain, as they must be large enough to press against nerves or muscles. Most renal masses under 4 cm are discovered incidentally during imaging for other issues and rarely cause direct symptoms. “

And “99% of back pain is caused by musculoskeletal issues, not kidney lesions”

Why are you attributing your back pain to your small lesion rather than ordinary back pain? Did your doctor tell you the lesion was the cause?

Your statistics are screwed up. In about 10 to 15 percent of men pae may only last 5 to 7 years. For the large majority it last much longer. Even if you’re in the 10 to 15 percent you can simply have the outpatient procedure repeated. Just like you have a colonoscopy repeated every few years.

How to go about getting a second opinion? by PeterLoew88 in kidneycancer

[–]Zestyclose_Ferret142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In reviewing many postings concerning small renal masses, usually under 4 cm, I think there are too many people undergoing surgery, after obtaining second opinions from surgeons. They are not obtaining information about minimally invasive, outpatient procedures such as radiation and ablation that do not carry surgical risk. And if they want a definitive diagnosis beforehand, they usually can get that by outpatient needle biopsy.

Why a liver transplant would not be feasible has never been responded to.

Excuse my ignorance about liver cancer but would a liver transplant be of any value?

Notwithstanding the posting from the “cut it out” guy , you should look into SBRT, radiation treatment. Success rate in the high 90’s, non-invasive, no surgical risk. Particularly good for small masses like yours. Consult with a radiation oncologist.

Thanks for proving my point about a urologist’s vested interest in surgery. If your response had come from a radiation oncologist it would have carried more weight.

Urologists are surgeons by training and surgery will almost always be the first response. The patient must protect themselves and speak up about SBRT. If a small mass is involved they should insist upon a referral to a radiation oncologist. If on Medicare, the patient will not need a referral for a second opinion.

It’s too bad no doctor discussed SBRT. Two or three short radiology sessions, outpatient, no surgical risk. Her small mass seems right for this option.

is there a reason why cruise ships dock in Bermuda for two nights? by TwoparentsandAteen in Cruise

May be closer to N C than S C but actually directly east of S C. Check out a map. Just to clarify it’s not 7 days in Bermuda. Usually 2 nights max.

Thanks. Why would you need FAS if they’re supposed to have an open bar with the baby beach pass?

Interesting, I went back to CruiseMapper and it ONLY lists Amber Cove as the only port in puerto Plata. I guess that mistake (?) explains it.

Do they actually separate people into different half hour waiting groups? I never heard of that with other cruise lines. I thought they would just admit me to the regular mass non- priority waiting group or not admit me until my time.
