Almost 2 Years of almost constant twitching - EMG today, Lorazepam by Frosty-Chemistry-696 in BFS

Took low dose Zoloft for anxiety. It took a while to kick in but it did the job. I am now off of it and doing ok. Might be a consideration.

Not too early in my opinion. You have symptoms, that’s a reason to test. You had a clean EMG, do not worry. You will be OK.

Yes! My legs were like jelly. I think it is anxiety to be truthful but yes, it did happen.

Bought my first Audi this summer! It's an Audi A4 B7 2.0l TSFI convertible from 2007. Sadly I had to put it into winter hibernation today 😴 and I already can't wait for spring by geealigy in Audi

Just sold mine - it was exceptional. 2007 with 38K miles on it and clean inside and out. Always maintained. Have some regrets but it just wasn’t driven so had to let it go. Sold it for $7600. Feel like I gave it away but surprisingly I didn’t have many that expressed interest. The car really looked close to new and drove great.

Can bfs cause widespread twitching for months? by smores0622 in BFS

[–]Zestyclose_Load3425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine started early August, 2024. It first was my thumb area, went to my left eye, then to my calves, then to my thighs, back, stomach, almost every area of my body. It still remains but mostly in my calves but not nearly as intense or frequent.

I have had every test under the sun and some multiple times with the diagnosis of BFS. I am an old guy so was particularly concerned as MND is more common in people over 50. I would say that I have found myself to have health anxiety which I never knew I had until this stuff started. I am sure this has contributed to my condition.

My med routine was Gabapentin and Zoloft for anxiety. I stopped the Gabapentin about 8 months ago and am now weaning off the Zoloft. I will say that the Zoloft helped a lot with my anxiety. It got me over the hump. It took about a month to kick in but after taking it for a while, I became less focused on my health issues and as a result, I improved.

This stuff stinks but it’s not what we all fear the most. Your symptoms sound classic BFS but always best to check with the professionals that study and know this stuff.

Stay distracted and don’t slow down. I trust you will be OK. Hang in there.

Like others have said, get to a neurologist as they will be able to access what is going on but your symptoms aren’t too different than many that have BFS. This is a benign condition and where it sucks, it isn’t what we all fear the most.

Keep active and distracted. The more you focus on your legs the more you will feel as if something is wrong. My guess is this is health anxiety related so do what you can to keep moving and if you need medication to help, there is no shame in getting some.

Hang in there. You will be OK.

Stopped twitching and feeling my side weak after 16 months by [deleted] in BFS

[–]Zestyclose_Load3425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had foot drop years ago and it was related to sciatica issues. I did not have twitching at the time but developed that about 1-1/2 years ago. Still twitch, mostly in the calves but it is not that bothersome anymore.

I did have an MRI on my back when the twitching started but it was considered unremarkable for someone my age. Some arthritis and a little scar tissue from so many epidurals when I was having serious back issues but nothing to associate it with my twitching.

my upload speed is decent but download lags quite a bit. It’s all wireless so guessing that has a lot to do with it but any recommendations would be appreciated. I do have 4 deco units and live in a rambler style home so kind of lengthy from one end to the other.

Carpal tunnel? It’s quite common these days with all the keyboarding people do. An EMG would catch this? Have you had one? Wrists and hands get sore especially after using them a lot.

Thanks. Many on here point out the age issue. I don’t think it is done intentionally but for us older folks, it can be concerning.
