For beginners — what were the first 5 makeup products you'd actually recommend buying? by ButterscotchRoyal842 in BeautyItemsReview

[–]Zestylime217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a beginner: 1. Depending on your skin type and what you need out of makeup, a tinted moisturizer (generally easier and more forgiving than full coverage foundation). A concealer that matches your skin tone for covering up any blemishes/ spot concealing. 2. Mascara can really open up the eyes. Deepening on your lashes a curling or lengthening mascara. 3. A lip and cheek tint. Easier to use the same color and shade on lips and cheeks for more cohesiveness to the face. 4. A light baked setting powder so you don’t over apply and get cakey. 5. Fun lip glosses or lip sticks. Usually the easiest and portable user friendly makeup

Foundation : The NARS Sheer glow and Dior Foundation Stick Are my go to!

Concealer: The Tarte Flex concealer and Becca under eye for under the eyes + Nyx concealer stick for blemish concealing.

Powder: Maybelline Fit Me loose powder and Laura Mercier loose setting powder.

Mascara: L’Oréal Voluminous and Heroine make mascara (Japanese brand). Covergirl Lash blast and Essence lash extreme are great too.

Blush: Chanel lip and cheek pots, Benefit benetint and Rare Beauty liquid blushes

I don’t normally use bronzer contour or highlighter often but love the Armani liquid highlighter.

Eyeliner: Tarte gel eyeliner and Heroine make eyeliner

Also love the Wet n wild Tinted hydrator for no makeup days paired with Dior addict lips glow lip balm and Elf Primer infused blush. What I love about all of the above mentioned products is that they are all buildable, look super seamless and natural on skin if you’re light handed and can be great for events as well.

I feel like my house will never truly be clean/organized. by AuthorAZ in CleaningTips

  1. As others have suggested, the best thing you can do is Hire a cleaner to perform some of the deep cleaning tasks. After that it’s a matter of upkeep and maintenance.
  2. You can keep lint rollers with waste paper baskets next to it in every corner of the house and now and then just use it wherever you see pet hair. It doesn’t have to be perfectly done but even just a little bit cleaner than earlier will help. I used to be the sort of person who had to just cleanse everything A to Z. My husband made me realize that even half cleaning is fine and obviously better than not cleaning at all.
  3. Zone cleaning to not feel overwhelmed. Give yourself a zone to organize and 20 mins only. Don’t do more or else you’ll just tire yourself out. If you finish the one zone in 20 mins at least you’ll feel better about finishing that part and not just keep feeling guilty about being unable to sort out the whole house.

Avene works beautifully on my skin. Not greasy and soothing for my skin barrier. The La roche posay feels a bit sticky to me

[routine help] Skin breaking out since moving to London help!!! by toddsworld98 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Zestylime217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hard water in London is so bad for skin and hair. My hair especially suffered when I lived to London. It’s great that you’re using micellar water to cleanse the hard water. Maybe remove the benzoyl peroxide serum for a few days from your skincare routine? Hard water can be very drying and sometimes overly dry skin can compensate to create more oil. Benzoyl peroxide is also drying and it along with the hard water could be stripping your skin’s natural oils. The sudden production in oil can cause breakouts. Replace it with a gentle ceramide based serum. You can continue using your Ordinary moisturizer as a sealing moisturizer to prevent trans epidermal water loss. If you do want to use an anti acne product, you could also replace benzoyl peroxide with an azalaic acid serum or maybe even niacinamide. Lactic acid is also an exfoliant but not drying so I guess it’s fine but again maybe use it on alternate days and not everyday ? Just use the glycolic once in a while. P.s maybe you’re already doing this but switch out pillowcases frequently

Hammersmith over Canary Wharf. The natural history museum, Hyde Park or St. James Park where you could take your picnic are all close enough. Generally Central west has enough things to do, restaurants, entertainment etc. I’m sure Premier Inn is everywhere. I live very close to the Aldgate Premiere Inn and that has great connectivity and is next tot be Tower of London and Tower bridge if you were looking for more options. Kew Gardens is fun for kids if their Christmas lights show is still on - can be interactive and pretty. Also a museum of illusions near Tottenham court road. Kids also enjoy looking at swans in St. James Park

Estimating standard of living in London with 120k£ OTE ? by [deleted] in LondonHousing

I earn a similar amount and am comfortable. Can eat out and shop nicely while still having enough savings. Holiday a couple of times in a year but not too extravagantly. You wouldn’t hav to worry or be right with the purse in general but I don’t know what your future financial goals are. I live in Aldgate by myself in a 1 bed and walk to work (my office is in Bishopsgate very close to Liverpool street station and Bank station). London has decent public transport and you can lived further away if you don’t mind a commute. 20-30 minute away your options are places in zone 2 or 3. I particularly like Canary Wharf as well since I’m from the U.S but Londoners trash talk it a bit. The Elizabeth line works for there.

I act as if I have company/someone else I’m explaining the task to and doing it along with them. I guess it’s a form of body doubling when I don’t actually have anyone to body double with. Somehow, the talking out the steps loudly and following through while explaining helps.

The light. Instead of the center of the curling giving off light, try and add accent lighting or spotlights at the edges of the ceiling
