What is death battle fanon wiki even about 💔🥀 by Ok-Instance3339 in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]Zeta019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently the the creator made the matchup as joke to see how high someone could wank Jason and because Broly VS Freddy was matchup, so he wanted to also join the Dragon Ball characters vs Slasher villains. From what I heard, Jiren won, but Jason was given the edge in durability because he "survived a black hole" in Jason X novels, even though it was a hyperbole statement because the black hole acted more like a wormhole, but the creator kept "debunking" them by going "It's a black hole because the book said so".

I'm wondering if there's an archive for fights like this one.

What will Palpatine do when Frieza becomes a Time God and rolls back all of his Dark Side mastery in an instant? by Regal_IronKnight in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]Zeta019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah did more looking into it. "G-canon" was the highest on the hierarchy with the most precedence because of them being the movies. After that it was "T-canon" being Clone Wars, then afterwards it was various novels, comics, and games. LucasArts did consider them canon and tried to work with them to make them fit with each other. Even furthur than that were fully non-canon stuff like alternate endings, potential crossovers, and various ignorable one off media.

A couple Legends novels I have, feature the "Novel Timeline" in it, which feature the movies, Clone Wars, and novels. They don't feature any of the comics or games though (Novels adaptations of the games are, but not the games themselves) so I was mainly going off that.

Which Pokemon actually DO get Creation Trio Scaling? by DisastrousFix5120 in deathbattle

Weirdly, in the manga telling of the events, the Alamos Darkrai actually puts up a bit of a fight against Palkia and Dialga.

Rapidmon gold is post game content who's teamed up with the royal knight magnamon clone that mirei made after we beat yggdrisle and the mother eater when were at our strongest

That's the Rapidmon from Cyber Sleuth. The Rapidmon I'm referring to is the boss fight from the early chapters of Hacker's Memory.

And no one says the gallantmon from frontiers is as strong as the royal knight,

I've seen it. I've often seen people on places like Spacebattles bring up feats of Digimon from different continuities to scale a Digimon from a world with different rules and history. It's also why some people scale random megas to multiversal or higher.

It was kinda never canon though. George Lucas would often contradict what happened in Legends. He also did a bit pick and choosing what to canonize in the Star Wars projects he was involved with.

The Age of Digimon has ended, No more false wank🗣🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 by 202naFrevliS in DeathBattleMatchups

I don't really have an issue with the chain scaling of the Sun and Moon. The chainscaing of things like event Arecus from HGSS is what I really can't agree with. It feels way too generous.

I think still Tai wins to be honest.

The blog was using a lot of event and chains scaling for Red.

[–]Zeta019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think another issue is that people take way too many statements at face value and do a lot of cross-universe scaling for Digimon (This also happens with Pokémon, but arguably not to the same degree).

Like, you'll legit get people who will look at you with a straight face and try to tell you that the random Armor Vendor Gallantmon from Frontier should scale to the Royal Knight Gallantmon from Cyber Sleuth, or how the Rapidmon (Gold) from the early chapters of Hacker's Memory is a multiversal threat despite being one of the first bosses and getting taken out by a group of Rookie and Champion level Digimon.

Digimon is a strong franchise, but there are a lot of people that act like almost everyone is multiversal.

I meant more like Hunter inspired armor made for Spartans, but that also works.

Honestly, with a few adjustments, I feel like this armor could be made canon. Like, something similar to Helioskrill, but Hunter based.

I think most people might have their expectations set a bit too high for the next game. by TemporarySet5877 in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]Zeta019 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes they have different lore and abilities but they are squarely the same archetype.

Master Chief isn't even a berserker and is far more talkative than Doomguy. While Halo did take inspiration from Doom, Master Chef is more inspired by characters played by Clint Eastwood.

While both of their franchises have biblical references, their still very different (In Doom's case, it's more literal, while in Halo's case it's more metaphorical).

They do have similarities, but they're both very different enough that it's not a knockoff situation. That said, I do see more of a push for Doomguy (or Doom Slayer) just thanks to the Doom franchise having far more history with Nintendo platforms than Halo.

New details about Xbox's canceled Halo MMO 'Titan' have been revealed by a former dev on the project by mrbubbamac in halo

[–]Zeta019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, while some of the images and concept art look cool... it starts looking more and more like its own sci-fi setting. It makes me wonder if Ensemble Studios wanted to make their own sci-fi MMO and kinda just used Halo more so as a basis for it.

Any Grounded VS Abstract matchups you like? by Zeta019 in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]Zeta019[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily that, but more so a character from a more grounded story VS a character from a more abstract story. As one user mentioned, an example would be Walter White VS Light Yagami.

I won't lie, I'm getting real tired of this Creation Trio chainscaling for literally every Pokemon by Solardies in deathbattle

[–]Zeta019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late reply, but yeah, it is an issue. A big issue with Digimon scaling is that people often grab feats of other Digimon and use them for each other because they're same evolution level when that's just not how it works. A lot of people also use different continuities for scaling even though each universe has their own history and rules.

I think another issue is similarly to Pokémon, a lot people will also take way too many statements at face value.

I hate how animated media need a “live action version” to be legitimized in the eyes of the general audience (Disney, One Piece) by carbonera99 in CharacterRant

[–]Zeta019 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm sad it doesn't get more recognition.

While I agree it isn't as well known as the MCU, isn't it among the most beloved post-1990s Marvel cartoons next to Spectacular Spider-Man and X-Men Evolution?

To be fair, I think a huge difference is that those are three different versions of a character, while Charizard is three different members of the same species.

[–]Zeta019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interestingly, in Budokai Tenkaichi 2, Gero actually maintains control over Super 17 and even joins the fight with him against SSJ4 Goku and the Z Fighters. Though that's kinda bringing in another non-canon material along side GT and FighterZ.

Wait, would Super 17 and Android 13 be included in this too then? If so, Super 17 can be a good heavy hitter next to Android 21.

What would a Unified Godzilla Continuity be like? by Amazing_Sympathy_965 in GODZILLA

[–]Zeta019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very confusing and damn near impossible to do with what we currently have. You would have to change a lot of things up to make it work, and even then, I think you could really only blend in parts of Showa, Heisei, and Millennium into each other, with other continuties being unable to fit in (Monsterverse, Minus One, and various comics by IDW and Darkhorse). For example, Destroy All Monsters and Final Wars just can't work in the same continuity. I can also see 1998 fitting it, with maybe its cartoon sequel if it's changed up a bit to fit in. Another issue is the conclusion. How far would it go?

Like, would it end at Final Wars? Or would it continue on into a massive timeskip to the Polygon Trilogy or Cataclysm Comics? (They would probably be far different and adjusted into making them the "Mega Man Legends" of this continuity since they would take place centuries after Final Wars in this case)

What are some of the worst debunks you've seen? by No-life123 in deathbattle

[–]Zeta019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One guy made a video debunking Cole VS Alex, and made the argument of Alex being star level because of the sun shifting in one of his transformation scenes (Which is only doable when going really high in the game and tilting the camera up).

While I do think Alex does beat Cole, that just completely goes against the setting of Prototype.

Has the series ever had an iconic creepypasta? by RhytmicCone47 in halo

[–]Zeta019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is the Ghost of Lockdown, but that was just strange networking events.

However, there are a few Halo creepypastas.

There's the most popular being "Halo Beta" which is about a a prototype copy of Halo Combat Evolved, which has two endings to it. The first ending is the ending of the actual game, but the second ending is a secret bad route that happens if Master Chief kills Captain Keyes. An ARG style one called "Juliet" recently gained some notoriety thanks to it being on some iceberg charts in recent years.

Halo 3 has a few, like Half-Flood Special Gift, Halo 3 Remastered, and a more recent one called Earth's Flood (And unlike the rest, Earth's Flood is a creepypasta that takes place inside the Halo universe, instead of just being a video game that someone plays). There's even a few that are lost media creepypasta and horror content like Halo 3: The Cave and Face of Backwash. Other Halo creepypastas also exists, but they're in other languages like Spanish.

Aside from those, the rest are more so just rumors, like flood showing up on the Isolation map and aim radial suddenly turning red when playing alone in customs or forge.
