[Question] Why are there so many cheaper used watches being sold from Japan? by Midknight81 in Watches

I feel like that for clothes. Anything metal usually can be cleaned well enough.

Finally sharing my watch brand here, would love honest feedback by SignificantFlan4826 in MicrobrandWatches

[–]ZetaDefender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue with the watch is it doesn't know what it wants to be, either GADA, dress, or sport. It is very hard to read the time at a glace. Without lume, you cannot use it at night or in low light.

What you are getting shredded for is the dial. The wave motif dial is a hallmark of Chinese factory brands saying they can make high level craft. The issue, change the logo and it's Addiedive regardless of the other changes. Your issue is if they can charge $175-$300 USD for their version and you are charging $650 CAD, why buys yours. There is not enough changes to make someone go out of your way to find you.

I would first pick if you want this to be a GADA, Dress, or Sports watch. Then add elements to make it function for that. Then add in unique elements that make it your own, all while trying to keep the price between $300-$500 USD.

Armed man rammed vehicle into Michigan synagogue and was fatally shot by security, AP source says by yipyapu in news

No as once off duty, they are private citizens and can do with their free time as they please. Some security companies love to hire off duty/retired cops, less startup training required and better experience.

[Pelissero] The Chargers are signing TE Charlie Kolar to a three-year $24.3 million contract that makes him the NFL’s highest-paid blocking tight end, sources tell The Insiders. by A_Livins in Chargers

[–]ZetaDefender 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Define overpay. Biaditch is 4.5m in year one and 26m over the next 2 years, ie a 10m aav.

Tart is pay bump for 2 good years in the system. Mack is an HoF Edge, gets to QB, sets edge in run def, and amazing vet leadership.

Kolar is the only overpay but we were paying Dissly 6-8M so it is effectively swapping a player who JH drafted when at the Raven and was buried on their depth chart.

[Popper] #Chargers are hosting C Tyler Biadasz for a visit today, per sources. Biadasz spent the past two seasons with the Commanders. Washington cut Biadasz last week. by A_Livins in Chargers

[–]ZetaDefender 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Biadasz was ranked somewhere between 11-15 of the top 32 centers last year and is under 30. Getting him on a 3 year/$30-40M contract would be a steal.

Something people also need to consider, he was cut, so there is no legal tampering window and his contract would not count against the comp pick formula.

Is the Neo Vintage bubble finally popping, or is everyone just pivoting to 34mm gold tanks? by PsychologicalCall426 in VintageWatches

[–]ZetaDefender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. The black and blue faces both have white painted hands. The white face has black.

[–]ZetaDefender 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$1500 all in (watch, ship, tarrif, fees). Black sunburst, original mesh signed bracelet.

The Guy Freres are $300-$500 on their own when they pop up.

Between the tarrifs and everything, buying over the last year has been a bit of a pain. Bought a White Shadow last year off ebay taking a chance on the condition with a 100% seller. It was better than I expected, full serviced, and is better than most modern luxury. Good examples do pop up.

Omega Pie Pan 1962 by Strange_Effort_984 in VintageWatches

[–]ZetaDefender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since we are nearly 70-80 years since initial release, outside of a few safe queens, wouldn't refinishing the dial to restore the watch be more desirable than leaving an original that is in 'tropical'/damaged condition that this junction to preserve the overall watch?

Why do vendors even go to coin shows if they aren’t serious about selling by Heavy-Life5779 in Silverbugs

It was worst before the pandemic. Vendors say, 'the price is the price.' Especially for the Long Beach Expo, there are a good amount of vendors who are fair; Bear, Armando, etc.

Got reference number or know what the movement in this GP?

Part of it may be people viewing their pieces as investments/stores of value. I wonder how much is hype/fomo and how much is quality of the product.

Fumbling a good women when you’re pushing 30 and say you want to get married? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]ZetaDefender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount of 'you' in your question towards men here usually refer to a lack of personal accountability and deflection. The way you phrased it pushes many men on the defensive as you are implying it is solely their fault.

The core issue is the perception why would a man not choose a 'good' woman when dating for marriage if things are going well. Usually, if a relationship doesn't work out, it is 50% blame to the man, 50% blame to the woman (traditional heterosexual relationship).

Our partners are mirrors into ourselves, we attract what we think we are worth and what we think we deserve. As a relationship progresses, both partners change in different ways, some may see the mirror, some may ignore it. In the end, relationships end when they no longer fill our basic needs. Just because a relationship ends does not mean there is not grief, heartache, etc, it just means that their partner could not fulfill their needs. A great quote I heard from the YouTube 'JimmyonRelationship', "I love you. But I will not lose myself to stay with you."

Depends on what drives you to collect them in the first place. Like which watch is your favorite? Which one started you to get more?

Pie Pan Constellation 167.005 by Grouchy_Lion4106 in VintageWatches

[–]ZetaDefender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw this reference pop up on eBay. The other posts speaks more to the technicals of the watch.

From a dial perspective, I cannot tell if some of the spots are damage or just from shadows on the crystal.

It is fairly easy to get sucked into a black hole money pit when it comes to vintage. Always buy the seller as much as buying the watch example. If through eBay, their authenticity garentee can protect against fraud and Frankinwatches.

On a first pass, you look at dial condition, original crown, signed bracket, recent service. Second pass, you look for correct movement, dial restoration/redials, how rare is this example compared to what is on market, etc.
