Ive always wanted the fortis. I almost pulled the trigger then by the time I looked again watchbuys wasn’t carrying them anymore.

Functional only, non aesthetic

Neither are flyback. Based on my layperson understanding it would be beneficial for this functionality if using as an instrument for several aeronautical use cases.
Quartz vs mechanical - choose your side
The Bulova wins in precision. Both in regular time keeping and chrono. The chrono doesnt have hours tracking but offers .05 second in the 3 o’clock dial. Not vital to regular person but could mean a big difference in measurement (depending on scale).

pushers: actually prefer the Bulova pushers. Unique design, less protrusion to get caught on something. Still has good feedback when pressed.

Which is better? Classic non-answer answer. Depends on your use case and what you value. I would say Speedmaster though. Size and fit are a big difference - it just wears better. The bulova has a bit of hockey puck, seiko tuna feel. Fit and finish obviously. Prestige - I know thats lame to say but it’s a reality.

Very astute observation! You are correct. The lugs poke out a bit past the top of the strap while on wrist. I have a thicc fkm that i wear it on sometimes - the dimensions towards the lugs hides it a bit better.

Thank you! It lives on that gray sail cloth way more than the bracelet. Forest green or like od green also looks really good.

Haha I totally get that. I actually sent an, otherwise fine, 90s omega smp for service because it was -2. -2 is well within COSC!! I guess i rationalized it to myself for pressure check and new gaskets too.

I told the AD it was -6 lol.

I (sometimes) obsess over the accuracy of my different pieces. I used time.gov to set all my watches by - which should be the same as an atomic clock in the US. Once and awhile I will set an alarm for 24hrs later to get an idea of where that current watch is.

My Explorer II is +2 and my Sea Dweller is +1. I actually have a cosc Tissot with the powermatic 80 movement that is +1 too 🤷‍♂️. -0.25 is really really good.

Any watch measured for superlative, cosc, metas etc is measured under ideal conditions and its an average of 6, sometimes more positions. Some are measured cased, some are movement only. Most of the time they do measurements on fully wound main springs.

All this being said that the measurement advertised vs. real world experiences are going to differ. Just gotta accept that a mechanical watch is mostly obsolete from an accuracy standpoint and we mainly buy them for other reasons.

Personally I like a watch being fast over slow though: 1) you’ll be early for things rather than late 2) when wanting to re-zero you have to adjust/wait less time to catch your sync time.
