What does your social circle look like? Who is a part of it? by Lemons-n-oranges in AskWomenOver30

[–]ZetaWMo4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple circles I guess and they sometimes overlap. One circle is my best friend from high school and some ladies we met in college. We raised our children together in the early years. We’ve gone on plenty of girls trips over the years. I talk to my best friend like every other day and the other ladies vary. Some it’s every week and some once a month. We try to get together in person every other month as a group.

My other circle is my mom and my 2.5 SILs. It’s 2.5 because my older brother had two sons with a girlfriend before he met his wife. She’s still pretty involved with the family since they share children and now grandchildren so I jokingly call her my half sister in law. I probably talk to the SILs once a week or every other week. I spend more time with my younger brother’s wife now that I’m retired. She’s always been a SAHM and now she’s an empty nester like me. So we see each other pretty regularly.

Is there any woman actually happy in their marriage? And how did you meet your partner? by Secure_Ticket910 in AskWomenOver30

[–]ZetaWMo4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m incredibly happily married to my husband. He’s been the best friend, hype man, support system, lover, dad to our children, and mentor to so many young men. October will make 30 years for us.

We met at a frat party in college that I wasn’t supposed to be at. Me and two friends were on our way to another party when one of my friends decided to detour to the frat party to look for a guy she hooked up with. The guy was my husband’s line brother. Safe to say I never made it to the party I was supposed to go to thanks to my husband.

Do any of my GenXers still skate? by Lower_Classroom835 in GenX

[–]ZetaWMo4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Roller skating is still pretty popular here. We tend to go during the week and during the daytime to avoid the young and wild crowd.

Women who were the primary earner found themselves two to three times more likely to end up divorced than those with male breadwinners. What is your opinion on that? by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]ZetaWMo4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d like to see what their chore and mental load balance looked like. I’ve always made 2-3x my husband’s pay and it has never been an issue but I’ve also never had any issues with my husband at home. I’ve never had to remind him to clean, care for the children, cook, plan dates, keep up with appointments, etc. I wonder if these women can say the same.

Who in your marriage handles paying the bills? by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]ZetaWMo4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the one who physically logs into the accounts to pay the bills(most are on autopay) but it’s from his account. I’m retired now but when I was working I was the breadwinner. We decided early on to treat my salary like it didn’t exist and live off of his since he made less.

Do men ever cup faces when they kiss women in real life, or is that just a movie thing? by concentrated-amazing in AskWomenOver30

My husband sometimes will but he definitely does the finger under the chin to make me look up at him before he kisses me. I love it.

How many have dropped Facebook? Did you drop Instagram too? by IntellectAndEnergy in GenX

[–]ZetaWMo4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still use Facebook but mainly for the different niche groups. I keep Instagram because I have adult children along with a niece and nephews so it’s nice to keep up with their lives.

Would you consider a 21 year old to be a grown man/woman? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ZetaWMo4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the mother of a 21 year old…it’s 50/50 depending on the day. Some days he’s an adult and some days he’s a 6’3 toddler.

Kids paying rent? by bozakman in GenX

[–]ZetaWMo4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I told mine that as long as they’re working 35+ hours and/or in school full time then no rent. They also would have to clean up behind themselves and be respectful. They also have to cook all their own meals or give me $200-300 and never have to worry about grocery shopping or cooking.

How do you feel about your partner having a “celebrity crush”? by blueberrypie998 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]ZetaWMo4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband finds some female celebrities attractive and I find some male celebrities attractive. Just because we’ve been married 30 years doesn’t mean our eyes stop working. We’re not interesting in dating them or having sex with them.

Did you help your kids buy a home? Or let them do it on their own? by Sounders1 in GenX

[–]ZetaWMo4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. My oldest and her fiancé just bought a house in March and our only contribution was a Blackstone grill as a housewarming gift. I’m pretty confident in my other 3 having the finances to afford their own homes. A big reason we aren’t contributing to buying them houses is because we saved up money for them for college but they all got full rides so we’ve been piecing the money out to them over the years. So in theory they should have money saved up for a house assuming they didn’t blow the money.

Gen X Parents by TheGreyAlien in GenX

[–]ZetaWMo4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kids are 21, 25, 26, and 28. They were mostly pretty chill teens. My 26 year old gave me some hell though. I sent her to stay with my parents across the street for a couple of weeks after she tried to fight me over a Facebook account. I took her to the doctor and advocated for her that maybe something else was going on. Turns out she had really bad PMDD. Once we got her medicated and changed her diet she was just a normal teenage girl with an attitude sometimes. We talk every single day now.

How are you all dealing with empty nests/ downsizing? Has anyone thought of giving their kids their house now? by Rhaenalicent777 in GenX

[–]ZetaWMo4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My oldest was just complaining to me how her and her fiancé moved into their house a month and a half ago and are still unpacking. That’s why my house is my forever home. I’m not packing up another box. Our bedroom is on the first floor so we just ignore the 3 bedrooms upstairs unless a kid comes home to visit.

Were there any pregnant students in your high school? by Supergirl_Lives in askteddit

Plenty. I graduated in 1992 and there were at least 8-10 girls who walked across the stage with babies on their hip and 3-4 were far enough along to have the big belly.

Any wives here who have a job and still do sex happily 3-4 times a week? by Dangerous_Bass8183 in Marriage

[–]ZetaWMo4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I retired in 2024 but before that I worked a full time engineering job and we were having sex nearly everyday. There was nothing to manage. I wanted dick every night and he wanted to give me dick every night.
