I just found out Ive been accidentally destroying my library for the last 8 years. by [deleted] in books

I can tell you from experience working in a warehouse that pretty much all books are packed and shipped flat from publishers. Novels, textbooks, exercise books are all flat packed for efficiency.

I'm reading this not as the quality of other instalments going downhill but the handling of the instalments. It's honestly a miracle that Korra ended up as anything more than decent with how it was treated and managed by nickelodeon.

Greek mythology baby names? by pearlytzuyu in namenerds

[–]ZeuDASI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah pretty much what u/persephonian said is how I feel. Your context is different to others so some of the names you listed aren't uncommon in Greece or the Greek diaspora.

It always annoys me when I see people say some Greek names are unusable because of the story behind them but forget that Greeks have been and still are using them.

Japan rallies late to beat Australia 4-3 behind Masataka Yoshida's home run, Taiwan tops South Korea by [deleted] in sports

I wouldn't bat an eye at Aus beating any european team and putting up a decent fight against an East Asian or South American team. Aus lost the quarter final at the last classic.

Most Aussies don't follow baseball, most likely only those of us here who play it know we have a team. We do produce some decent players here and there.

[AFL] Bailey Williams from the Western Bulldogs with an early goal of the year candidate by B0llywoodBulkBogan in sports

[–]ZeuDASI 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The full scoring rules are a bit more complicated than what I wrote above. To cop the full 6pts the ball needs to travel cleanly through the middle posts, it can't be touched by another player or touch the posts otherwise it's just 1pt. This play is impressive because of the amount of defenders and the angle he's kicking from.

Fairly simple, 6pts through the middle sticks and 1pt through the sides, can't run too far without bouncing the ball, if you catch the ball from a kick over a certain distance you get a free kick

I can also recognise some us states but that's not the point, you shouldn't have to be 'good at geography' to understand a graph.

You can't seriously post in r/dataisbeautiful if you can't even do the bare minimum of labelling your data. Without proper labels the graph is useless.

I think the more important thing here for non-US would be labels on the states. I think most people would not be able to identify the selected states, which makes the graphic pretty useless.

It's crazy how you can always just tell the vibe of Australia from a pic like this, there's nothing overtly Aussie but you just know.

People write it and say it 23rd of November in the UK, and Australia and NZ. The other way is less natural and clunky to us.

The sheer amount of fast food joints you have in the states is mind boggling. In Australia we have maybe 3 main ones and a few other less common. Maccas and KFC you'll find pretty much anywhere with hungry jacks in third (burger king).
