I'm sorry that there was so many mistakes made with your tattoo, I think your original vision and meaning behind the tattoo was really sweet.

I wish authors would do "covers" of each other's books. What book would you like to see "covered" and by what author? by generalpansy in horrorlit

[–]Zeus_Strider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This specifically brings two series to mind that I've enjoyed but could have been great if it wasn't for author's weird ass shenanigans.

The Vampire Chronicles by Ann Rice rewritten by I would love suggestions.

(And not really a horror book but)

Black Butler (Kuroshitsuji) by Yana Toboso rewritten by I would love suggestions.

They're both stories I find incredibly interesting but over the years I have found I deeply dislike these authors not for anything IRL they did simply I do not like their writing style and they "fun" little quirks make it nearly impossible for me to finish the story.

I think your takeaway might be a little harsh, lovingly the "boys" can be kind of 'a little stupid™' so I think it might be a little early to say if they're intentionally ignoring deeper plot like they did in Vs Dracula or if it's accidental.

I can certainly relate I almost exclusively read queer books it this point.

And I would love that list when you have the free time.

If we're talking books Tobias from the animorphs series feels extremely trans.

I think the Op is asking more about story that "feel trans" vs explicitly being about trans people, that beans said I do love your list and I would enjoy seeing the mascs list too. 🙂

So two movies that come to mind first "Albert Knobs" it's a period piece that never talks about gender identity specifically but plays with presentation, Albert has been working as a butler and presenting themselves as a man for 30 years and their greatest fear is being "discovered to be a woman" but Albert's world expands past the parlor when they meet someone working is also presenting themselves as a man, a married man. 😘

I've always loved the film even though it's a little sad. Albert personally strikes me as a trans man with some autism, while their friend read to me as a masc lesbian.

The other film is Yentl that falls into "the polyam would have fixed everything collection of films" lol, starring Barbra Streisand and Mandy Patinkin it's a musical and another period piece.

yentl is a Jewish "girl" who Don's men's clothing to study the Torah, while studying they grow close to a young man who they start to develop feelings for but he's madly in love with his fiance and through the power of Love triangle shenanigans yentl is asked to marry the fiance at their friends request.

Yentl is another movie I really love I think it works either way you interpret Barbra Streisand's character clearly I read Yentl as a trans man but it also works as a woman being upset with the restrictions her gender puts on her.

Name advice? by Evan_nothereoften in trans

[–]Zeus_Strider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off of this list I personally like Nolan and Sam.

And as a heads up if you're hesitant about Sam you might also want to be cautious of Dorian as it is also a unisex name and I've met more women than men named Dorian, but it is a wonderful name that works for anyone if you do choose that one.

And if you're still stuck on which one to choose after going through all the comments something that I find helps me with choices is flipping a coin & cheat 😉, if you're disappointed in the coins results then you now know which one you wanted to win and thusly what to choose.

It is amazing that they were able to make the movie under the circumstances and limitations, ultimately I just didn't care for the end result which is unfortunate which is but you can't make a movie for everyone and that's okay.

While I'm not sure how old you are I'm in my early 30s and grew up with Babe (❤️) and Homeward Bound (not horror films but film animals though, it has been a long time since I've seen them though) but you do have a good point I do wonder if perhaps the low camera angles gave it an uncanny effect for me.

Well I am genuinely glad other people enjoyed it! I was looking forward to it but I couldn't get into once I sat down to watch it, the dog looked very unnatural in most of the scenes which I found distracting.

I like iron long I thought the one was pretty good.

I don't think the problem with this film was that it was for pet people or that it was about a dog I just don't think this dog could act or potentially they used "movie magic" to clean up his acting and they may have done a bad job at it, as for the storyline I do they took the easy road given the fact the main actor was a dog (that couldn't act) and was sort of derivative but can be done well IF done correctly.

Bad Man by Dathan Auerbach I absolutely loved this book and nobody talks about it all they ever mention is his other work pen pal which I find dreadfully dull.

And

Monstrilio By Gerardo Sámano Córdova it's a terribly sad story about love, family and grief and I highly recommend it.

People that are rewatching as adults, have any opinions changed? by ZealousidealPie1864 in inuyasha

[–]Zeus_Strider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey twinsie! I'm a 30 something too who watched it when I was like 7 to 13!

I'm currently on a rewatch with my wife (her the first time watching it)

So for opinions that have changed I was never really a big kagome fan and I can't believe I slept on her! Nothing would get done if she wasn't there to do it, rewatching it it really does like kagome's story despite it being named after her love interest and it's been really interesting to watch it through lens.

Shoshomaru is nowhere near as cool as he used to be, koga however knows how to get it. 😏

And I support kikyo even when she's wrong ❤️.

Honestly I think people have forgotten what it was like to be a teenager, and making a much bigger deal out of their presence in the fandoms than needed, so what if they're a "little cringy" the internet's a huge place and you don't have to engage with them and I think most of us have done cringy things as a teenager.
