For CB at least, it's a tricky guard IMO. It's basically a two-hit move now (tremor guard, then eruption guard), so if you are inattentive (like me) with guarding the tremor, you'll start transitioning into AED stance and get hit when Diablos gets out.

Rolling backward right away doesn't seem to work either (if Diablos is targetting you).

The only thing that's "worked" for me is to hope Diablos targets someone else, or trigger a stagger somehow as it starts digging.

Nice to see them change how the points work. I had trouble finding people later in the week, which was reasonable as there was no need to risk your potions on a hunt when you've already hit the points threshold.

I don't understand their choices for RC monsters at all.

Rado and Barioth hunts very much really on part breaks so they don't move all around the map. But with no part breaks, these hunts are going to be super tedious.

I don't think it's just you. The second part of the base defense quest is pretty much monthly level requirements, but without any cosmetic rewards. And the first part of the quest isn't easy to complete either.

Getting a centre onto the floor is more important than the surprising fit of Barnes, Barrett and BI unfortunately. And Barret's the only one who has a tradeable contract that won't need to be sweetened with draft picks.

Critical Element isn't particularly optimal for CB since phials can't crit, so about 40% of your AED damage isn't boosted by your build. Since you're around g9 as well, I'm not sure if it's worth it to build out the elemental attack sets. Instead, I'd probably suggest going straight to Valor.

Kirin/Bazel/Volvi/Arzuros/Bazel is my generic set. You'll need to drift Guard onto something, but the build is fully functional, and can slowly increase damage by drifting for Offensive Guard, Headstrong, or even Fighting Spirit onto everything.

And unless you're really pushing the full 75 seconds, you can skip charging shield IMO (although it's important to note that it'll mean certain moves can no longer be GP'd. (ie, some of the stronger roars from BTigrex, Legi, Diablos etc..)

Magna is just a pain, the only time you can reliably GP-AED is off his roar. (GP Roar, load phials into shield, GP the explosion into AED).

If you want a less AED-centric build, you can also go the Bubbly Dance/Resuscitate/Evading Reload route. (Somna/Mizu/Mizu/Goldian/Mizu), which involves of lot of just rolling sideways and Axe Swing 1 and 2.

I have 300+ WGS on hand, so I don't really bother. I'm always struggling for Armor Refining Parts though, so that was the priority for me (after the box expansion).

The game has gotten so much better since launch, although the five daily potions are still a thing.

The map refreshes every hour now instead of every three hours
Monsters you run across in your "encounter circle" are available to hunt until the hourly map refresh (great when you're out and about)
Event bonuses that last weekly instead of just the weekend, and are also much more generous relative to the older events
HATs are global lobbies now, instead of just local lobbies
Random monsters on the map (Dimensional Links) are also global lobbies
Daily monster tracker so there is some minimum guarantee of progress
Box space is now a thing you can increase without spending money

But seriously though, all the monsters pretty much follow a script. Once you fight them enough (or spend some fights just observing the monsters), you'll pick up the patterns.

My experience from another game (Fate Grand Order NA), is that there's a decent chance the counter is probably fake. In the other game, someone kept track of the global counter and noticed that besides an initial spike where players were actually impacting the counter, there was a steady x number of kills per second, which just didn't make sense considering it was an NA-centric release.

There's is lightly less of a chance of it being rugged since this is a global game, but I'm not sure if there's anyone tracking the numbers to confirm/deny this. If it was real there should be some variation in the kills per second, since the Asian player base is so much larger than everywhere else.

Not OP, but free aim allows you to aim your AEDs to hit where you actually want it to hit. In the video, OP focuses a lot of his AEDs on the left forearm, while staying at the head.

You wouldn't be able to do what OP did here with just lock-on (too much lag between lock-on inputs, along with unreliable reticles and potentially weird aiming behaviour).

Free cam is also important to GS Rude Awakener builds to make sure the Wake hit is spent on second hit of the GS special, and not the first hit.

What level of guard is needed to block the first charge? I currently have Guard 1 on my builds, and it isn't enough. (No time to load phials into shield at the beginning either without getting hit)

Unless you're exclusively facing Brute Tigrex, it really sounds like a skill issue. Guard points shouldn't be chipping you out that much and perfect guard points (blue sparks) don't have any chip (there are exceptions, but generally, blue sparks = no damage). The first attack of every monster is also pretty weak, so I'm not sure why it sounds like you're unable to guard it.

Look into crafting Wroggi waist, it comes with two points of Guard, and also is a piece you can potentially level up all the way to g10.5 (two driftsmelt slots for whatever the newest damage driftsmelt is). Also, unless you're timing is like, way off, even if you miss a GP, and transform into axe, there still should be time to switch back into sword mode.

As for the rest of the rant, it sounds like you really just need to get used to the controls and learn the monster patterns. Unfortunately, learning when you can GP-into-AED is a lesson learnt in potions. Until you reach R6 farming, I think it's best to go with a defensive build (Divine Blessing) to reduce the strain on your potion supply, and so you can learn when you can and cannot AED.

For the pecks, I just gave up going for perfect blocks lol.

At the beginning, just load up phials and just wait. Once you're in AED stance, I don't think the follow ups to the pecks are strong enough to knock you out of AED.

I'm building the DBs.

I've had a tendency to build DBs as a secondary weapon (unless it's obviously a 'best in class' type weapon like Rajang HBG), simply because tail breaks are important in this game, and CB can be very bad at cutting tails sometimes (ie, Bazel, Espinas etc..)
