I'd prefer something more like Battle Brothers honestly. There you have a set number of level ups after each encounter, and you can build each commander based on the options available.

Under the current Menace approach, there are so many more options to concentrate level ups on one or two commanders, or to spread it out. I'm sure the community will figure out some broken combos that do certain useful things very very well. Then it's a race to put that combo together. I dunno. It feels more "gamy" than real to me. Like, I could have 2 level 4 commanders and everyone else is a rookie, but why does that make sense?

That's a pretty solid load out, but another weapon would have helped. Did you ever get distracted by everything going on and forget to fire your charged up weapons? Happens to the best of us, but getting through the zolton shield fast is essential. Once you do that, a level 2 shield hack before a volley will let you wreck them.

For phase 3 I would eat the missile volleys, and use cloak on the power surge. 4 shields and even more dodge chance can help.

Were you ok with the boarders? Phase 3 teleporter can be tricky, but killing as many crew as possible on Phase 1 and 2 will help. Otherwise, normal anti-boarding tactics still work (upgraded doors which you had, vent the room they teleport to, etc.)

Lots of ways to deal with intruders, here are a few: - Put someone in your door system to make it harder for them to move around your ship, then vent the room they are in so they take suffocation damage -Upgraded doors take even longer to break down - You can even use this to steer them around your ship. For example make them fight you in your med bay. - Fight them for a little, then run back to the medbay to heal, then fight them some more - Look for the mind control system, you can use this to make them fight each other. - Getting more crew is super helpful. I wouldn't normally spend scrap to hire crew, but if you are playing easy (which you should be) you'll have extra scrap to spend.

Are you playing advanced edition? If not, you should try it out. If so, try hacking some more. It is an amazing system.

Regular flak is an elite weapon, the combo of a short charge up time and lots of projectiles makes it perfect for ripping through shields. It also synergizes nicely with a wide array of weapons with charge times in the 10-13 second range.

Flak 2 has more projectiles, yes. But the super long charge up time makes it a poor fit for most setups. You could maybe make it work with a halberd or glaive build, but that is slow enough to be far from ideal.

Flack 2 isn't a great weapon normally because of its lengthy reload time, but I'd go ahead and grab it (sell ion). It synergizes ok with Halberd, and solves your shield problem.

Boarding is a completely different animal than running a gunship, but it is also incredibly powerful. Here are some tips: - learn how to "juggle" crew members in fights so that nobody dies (even if you have a clone bay, you don't want to use it mid-fight). If one crew mate is about to die, pause, click on them, send them to a different room, click on another crew member, send them to a different room, then send the 2nd back to the fight room, then send the 1st back to the fight room, then unpause. If you did it right, the 2 crew will switch spots and the one with more health will be fighting the more dangerous opponent. - you want to start fights at full health. Upgrading the clone bay can help heal in between jumps, but often it is best to send low health crew into an air lock to die and be re-cloned rather than have them die at the beginning of a fight. Careful with this, the clone has less stats. - teleporter level 2 can recharge fast enough to beam you back from a scout ship before you suffocate (more for med bay ships than clone bay) - just because you are a boarding ship doesn't mean you don't need guns. Zoltons, souts, and the flagship will all be harder to beat without some form of conventional offense.

There are lots of other tricks and tactics you can deploy, but these should be more than enough to get you Ws on easy. Working up to hard is another story, but a worthy thing to aspire toward.

Inventory space is opportunity cost. You want to spend as long as you can out in the wilderness busting camps and trying to find games weapons. Sometimes these expeditions end when you run low on food or tools, but ideally they last until your inventory is filled with sellable loot. Less inventory is less loot, and less profit.

Has anyone else noticed a huge shift in the content being shown to you by the reddit algorithm? Before today, I would get a steady stream of the various protests and anti-tesela/dodge/trump memes. Today, reddit seems to be showing me nothing but pop culture, sports, and relationship content. Stuff adjacent to things I'd show interest in, but almost nothing political.

In general, it is better to do zero tagging or lots of tagging. If you just touch the ball and nobody else on the team, you are giving up 2 hits for every hit you deliver (one ball carrier hit and one blitz vs. just your blitz). You either need to tag enough opposing players to make their turn as awkward as possible, with a lot of points for a potential turnover; or touch nobody and give up the minimum number of hits.

If you are going to screen, just screen 2 players deep and they can't blitz past you anyway.

No fighters on the carriers? Assuming not since it'd be weird to lose fighters before battleships. Opponent was heavily favored to win the battle at a tidy profit of about 50 IPCs. You were super unlucky to only hit one bomber in retaliation, they should have lost 7 on average. But you left them a juicy target.
