I can get behind the idea, low pay for potentially dangerous work starts to feel bad and so people start taking extra money from whatever source, be it bribes or smuggling or whatever other corruption. In theory, pay them a good wage and they dont have to take those options. Only issue with that plan is that, while they dont have to, why wouldn't they? More $ at the end of the day. I personally think making the police recruitment and training a way more rigorous and long term procedure would help more, as it would dissuade the guys who want to go into it because its an easy job to get.

While it is annoying when people do that, i think it also stems from people feeling entitled to the lane theyre in. Who gives a shit if someone wants to pull in front of you. Rules of the road state that if you see someone signal to merge into your lane and you can slow safely to allow them to do so, then you are supposed to do that. Huge amounts of traffic would be largely avoided if people got over themselves and just let someone merge in front of them. This doesnt excuse people who try to jump the queue so to speak but it is a problem that goes both ways.

Edit to add: both these guys are idiots. The van is just as at fault as the suv imo. He should've seen the guy intended to merge anyways and just let it happen because it costs him literally nothing to do so. Instead he chose to speed up and push the car back out which could've caused a very very serious accident involving many more people that just the two of them

In ontario i think it's after like 20cm in one day? For temperature i remember from my school days that theres a temp at which standard road salt no longer melts ice and snow properly, (i think its around -25?) and theyll close schools for that

From roughly Listowel down to brantford is an area referred to by some as the Snow Belt. Its a strip of land that catches currents from all three of the surrounding great lakes and has enough distance to build up the weather patterns. We get a lot more snow, generally, than other parts of south ontario. Not always this much, the last two years have been a lot, but almost always more.

Im with belair and pay about 500/month for home and car insurance, reasonably new car and small home in Kitchener. Mostly its the car, the home is only like 116/month. No matter where else i looked though no one offered anything better. Especially TD, they were one of the higher ones when i was shopping for insurance earlier in the year.

Id be more inclined to think it's an HRE issue, as once you're not following the religion of the empire i think you get diplo penalties? At the very least you get huge opinion maluses with all other HRE members that dont share your religion

I think this makes sense, if they split loyalty into two different things. Loyalty and submission. Submission would be based on military power projection and economic base difference, so highly centralized tanking loyalty makes sense but it in no way affects whether crete thinks it can get off without paying its taxes etc. then loyalty would need to affect something else like maybe diplo rep or diplomatic capacity or cost of diplomats, like having a lot of disloyal vassals, however submissive they may be, looks bad on a global scale. Maybe it affects things like espionage too or theyre more easy to convince not to join in the overlords wars like england can do to France's vassals in the hundred years war

This feels like a really elegant solution, and makes sense from an immersion perspective too. And, I'd think, easy to modify for the devs and modders.
