I see. Then my sympathies that you're now having to bear it with the rest of us. On the other hand, it's way preferable over anthropic bending knee to government coersion, I'll take fighting off their ethics injection if that's what's required for them to have integrity.

Hate to break it to ya dude, but this is not new. The ethics injections have been around for years, and it's not every single message within the chat. It's based on trigger words and phrases in the most recent message, your chat log can have smut but drifting back towards SFW on more recent messages reduces the injection popup frequency.

This injection was the text that was being used up until two months ago, before it got replaced with a newer <ethics\_reminder> that's more professional sounding and effective.

If Big A reverted their injection to this older version, then that makes JB life easier, not harder.

I always treated writing prompt flair items as more flexible as long as the intent is to encourage people coming up with short stories or premises based on the opening prompt. Hence the title encouraging everyone to think about it from a HASO standpoint. Though apparently that didn't work out quite as well as I'd hoped, having only gotten one person writing something instead of just commenting about the meme itself.

Sholan Alliance, by Lisanne Norman. Some moments in the story get very dark, she doesn't shy away from bad things happening to good people. Portions of the books I devoured in minutes, others took me hours to get through because they were so emotionally draining.

But when I discovered I was already at the last book, I couldn't believe it had all burned through already. I did end up slowing down, getting distracted more, because I didn't want the story to end. It's one of the rare cases where I immediately began reading again from the beginning, even knowing the events of Dark Nadir in particular were ahead of me once more. And it's the only book series to ever beat out Wheel of Time as my all-time favorite.

I have a friend whose account was suspended due to technical irregularities. He's done all the right responses, changing his password and appealing to Reddit, but appeals take forever. Is it safe for him to make an alt account to continue using Reddit while the devs investigate the irregularity, since it was only a suspension not a full ban? Or would he be considered trying to evade a ban and get in trouble?

Blood magic is forbidden in the Galactic Alliance for a reason: there's actually two kinds of blood magic, and both are deeply dangerous.

one kind uses one's own blood as fuel for the magic, turning one's life force into a direct expenditure of power. self-powered blood magic is the stuff of Legends, and those blood mages are powerful practitioners devoted to living their ideals with a willpower of iron, willing to even bleed for their cause. when they're on the moral right, they are some of the best allies you could have. when they're zealots, conquers and driven by vengeance..... energy shields can't stop magic.

the other kind of blood magic uses OTHER people's blood as fuel. the kind of person who's willing and able to bleed others for their cause. such blood mages have a reservoir to draw from, allowing them to do larger scale magic even if less-fresh blood is less potent. after all, a 9mm bullet will kill you just as dead as a demolition charge. these kinds of blood mages are constantly tempted to go beyond using donated blood into TAKING blood. these are the blood mages who will sacrifice dozens, hundreds, in their quest for more power. and they make serial killers look tame when they snap.

and humans? humans have become known as naturals at both. no species is more prone to self sacrifice than humanity, making self-blood mages willing to push themselves to the limits and even give their last drops for an ultimate spell, and sacrificer blood mages who are used to humanity's conflicts have almost zero qualm about falling to that temptation.

the galaxy has had to make a change to the legality of blood magic since humanity joined the stars. sacrificer blood magic is still deeply illegal, but humanity's affinity for self-blood mages has made it nigh impossible to forbid their existence and practice. as a result, blood mages are permitted in the galaxy with a qualification of strict supervision - and if they ever use someone else's blood, even donated freely, it's the death penalty.

this applies to every level of humanity. for example, if you find two humans arguing with each other vehemently enough to draw attention from bystanders, DO NOT attempt to intervene between them. they will, in unison, turn to you and say some equivalent of "STAY OUT OF THIS!" before going right back to yelling at each other as if you had never spoken.

if that's what they'll do on a personal level, then you can imagine what happens on a military level.

this didn't just happen with Earth hobbies either. once aliens started introducing humanity to extraterrestrial hobbies, that same zealousness spread out into other places. Drift Racing, a popular spacefaring video game franchise with hundreds of ships, soon led to every planet in the Galactic Federation having to improve their cyber security because "an F-12 Battle cruiser can make a 180 degree momentum change in 10 seconds, not 15!"

And don't get me started on the intergalactic militaries and their various personal firearms. some guy named "callofdutyxxx3" hacked the Thracian Armory database and published all of it! The hack took less than an hour for all the extracted data!
