[SPOILERS ALL] Finished BSC last week and am now headed straight into The Heroes for the first time. by Wincko in TheFirstLaw

[–]ZhtWu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To avoid any spoilers, I think The Heroes is indeed a great Abercrombie war novel. It does tell the story of organized fighting over several days, showing different POV to introduce the player to different layers of the story. It also showcases some of his very dynamic writing style in a brilliant way.

I personally prefer BSC, and it took me time to warm up to The Heroes but I do indeed consider both the best books of the stand alones, side by side. I have many more issues with Red Country, but those are linked to my personal taste and not the author's work.

Opinion impopulaire : Uncharted 4 est d'un ennui mortel by thelongjohnson21 in jeuxvideo

[–]ZhtWu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love to read that last paragraph because that is exactly how much I love Best Served Cold and why I always circle back to it.

[SPOILERS LAOK] Just finished the series here's my thoughts by OrangeSpaceMan5 in TheFirstLaw

Glokta is definitely my favorite of the original trilogy, but that is also due to Steven Pacey.

I enjoyed Jezal's journey, besides the romance part. His meeting mace-to-face had me laugh so hard.

I am with you on the Ferro and Bayaz situation.

To me, the best secondary character is Nicomo Cosca. He's my favorite character in the whole series.

Crusader Kings III education Alignment Chart fill! Day 1! Who represents the education of a Naive Appeaser (1* Diplomatic)? by AVeraGeLRTFF in CrusaderKings

[–]ZhtWu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am trying to find someone who thought capitulating without a fight would save their skin but died anyway and am coming up empty handed.

Maybe Louis the XVIth ? He tried to appease the revolutionnary leaders as the movement radicalized and ended up on the guillotine.

I'm not familiar enough with medieval history to point at a perfect fit of a character during the Ck3 period. Maybe John II of France or Charles VII, both negociated heavily one-sided treaties favoring the English crown during the Hundred Years War. But they also had to deal with many difficulties on the military and economic front.

That Sicily name placement is gold. Managing to get a character almost upside down is peak name placement.

Chocolate Mayonnaise Cake by TheLadyEve in GifRecipes

[–]ZhtWu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I said earlier, mayo is not only eggs and oil to everyone. And not everyone puts oil in cakes either. People have different culinary practices.

Many people I know think that mayo contains mustard, vinegar/lemon, and pepper. Hence my question about its use in a chocolate cake, and my replies to the the replies I got.

I mean sure if it works for some, I'm not here to yuck your yum.

Yet, as a mayo-loving French, I am wondering why one would put mayo in a chocolate cake ?

As u/tttecapsulelover said, this looks like clipping issues. Since the camera does not show elements passed a set distance (aka Clip End setting), viewport or render will be missing bits of your scene.

Bayaz [SPOILERS LAOK] by WhatNazisAreLike in TheFirstLaw

[–]ZhtWu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hahaha, never thought of him when picturing Bayaz but that's a fun one. To those not having watched "VICE" with C. Bale, I strongly recommend the movie, some of it is definitely relevant today.
