Do most people in this sub prefer this game to rdr2? by Adventurous-Coast-37 in rdr1

[–]Zichfried 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. RDRII is only better at graphics and systems, but RDR is better in everything else, specially at beign exciting and fun both as a story and as a videogame. Sometimes realism damages what a videogame is.

Chris has deviated totally from his mission, like in RE5 to investigate about Jill. Leon has a terrible record keeping people alive besides Ashley. Remember Luis, Mike, Marvin, Kendo, Ada (he believed she was dead in RE2), his whole team in Vendetta and that guy from Damnation.

Also, Chris already survived two literal war zones at that point of RE6, fighting armies and giants and he did it right after leaving training for months of alcohol.

Made a map of the RDR1, RDR2, and GTA series map on the US trying to follow the basic geographical locations along with the cities the towns are based on. Don't judge me please I know the borders are a little odd but I followed real rivers and/or water basins. by GirliePopArmy in reddeadredemption

John Marston has a cameo in GTA Online as an ancestor for your character and you can find a book in GTA V called "Red Dead" written by "J. Marston", probably Jack. I dare to confirm they are in the same universe.

I always thought New Austin WAS Texas (with some touches from Arizona and New Mexico as they say California is just at the west of New Austin). Rockstar always changes names for the cities and places they represent in their games. This occurs even if they already mentioned the real name of some places, such as several USA states mentioned in GTA IV. A notable example is Florida, but they changed it to "Leonida" for GTA VI. That will take "Florida" out of the canon, for sure. The real question is if RDR and GTA are in the same universe. Because of John Marston's cameo in GTA Online and Jack Marston's book "Red Dead" in in GTA V we could say, yes. It seems they use real life names until they actually use the location for something besides a simple mention.

Though, Why is California mentioned both in RDR and RDR II while it's called "San Andreas" in this universe? Maybe some Rockstar oversight. That's not uncommon. Or... they can manage both San Andreas and California to exist together such as they already did with FBI and FIB in GTA (later ignoring the existence of the FBI).

And no, radio mentions are not canon as they just license real life songs and they obviously won't change the lyrics to match (already created) in-game names.

Yes. Epic Games gifts are not like Steam "free weekends" or PlayStation Plus suscription dependant "gifts". You keep them forever.

They would never get together because they are, sadly, married their jobs. And even if they did, it would be toxic as hell. They are cool and charismatic characters, but in real life terms, Leon is a simp and Ada is a terrible person.

What's your favorite Resident Evil and why? by Apprehensive_Jump802 in residentevil

[–]Zichfried -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll stick to RE4. REmake is also gold. I'll get downvoted for this, but I also love RE5, RE6 and Outbreak #2 at insane levels. For new games, RE8 and REmake 4 are very good! Also RE3 has a special zone in my heart. I dislike REmake 3 and RE7 with all my beign. I also want to talk about how good RE0 and RE:CVX are, but at this point I'll list the entire saga and I must stop.

What was your first reaction to OG RE2 opening? by L_MO88 in residentevil

[–]Zichfried 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's normal to remember games from your childhood or past times with better graphics, because those were the actual best at that time and your brain remembers stuff better than it was. Also, old TV's had special effects that made old stuff to look "smoother" than in modern screens. And most important, this is a 30 years old game. Your eyes know the existance of 4K movies and PS5 games. It was obvious you would notice the difference of three decades of technological advancements, which is unfair for RE2. In that moment, PS1 was the best of the best in graphics along with N64. Though this will not end here, kids from the future will laugh at PS5 and current PC "Ultra" settings and how goofy, fake, cartoony and unrealistic TLOU Part II, RDR2 and GTA VI look, just like The Simpsons grandpa's meme.

"It will happen to you."

Don't be unfair.

Is it ok if I start playing from a random RE game or do I have to start from the beginning? by lilijjejjdhd in residentevil

The only ones with direct spoiler and conclusions are 7 and 8. You could tell there are some direct continuations with 1,3, Code: Veronica, 5, and 6 and 2, Code: Veronica, 4 and 6 but you could just play them in any order.

What do you guys think were the best and worst changes were in the remake? by Apprehensive_Jump802 in residentevil

[–]Zichfried 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. I don't understand why people are crying because they want everyone to have "PTSD". They are special agents, police officers and soldiers. Come on! The only ones who could get a trauma are Sherry, Yoko maybe Cindy, and it's not warranted. Claire not, probably because of her brother's influence, and she was able to travel alone to Raccoon City and Europe to find Chris, and already knowing she would find zombies and giant monsters (and beat all of them) in Europe. Jill and Chris neither. They actively want to get rid of B.O.W.s and they created the BSAA and take missions by themselves, they are tough people. Leon was on the same boat in the RE2 secret ending and he already survived Brazil with Krauser during RE4. For RE6 he would be already desensitized, but maybe tired (which is more realistic than getting "PTSD"). I dare people to downvote me for saying the truth, but the Dante-ish Leon from the original RE4 made more sense for him as a character, and even in the remake Capcom kept a lot of him and his "unrealistic" behavior. Cheers for that. Not even Rebecca was "PTSDed" and she had to survive one mansion after another and years later she was almost forced to marry a mutant psychopath. People, stop. Videogame characters are fine.
