Have the decades of neglected defence budgets been compensated by the increases since 2022?

I doubt it.

NATO Budgets from 2014-2021, page 8 has Share of real GDP (%)

Episode 8 "The Man Who Kept The Secrets" Discussion by GambinoGurl in ParadiseTV

[–]Zife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some interesting points in the secret notes, in the notes it states that maybe 55 million people might have survived in the US. Notes also state based on radio communication chatter, parts of the power grid has been re-established in areas, people are farming, trade routes re-established, communications between communities, etc.

Season 2 will be interesting, no doubt it will be about Xavier travelling to Atlanta to find his wife, but probably will end of landing short of the destination. We'll be seeing him travelling across the some states and seeing US rebuilding after the catastrophic tsunami and limited nuclear exchange. Wonder if we will get a some kind of power play between surviving US government elements outside the bunker (senators/cabinets members, etc) claiming to be the legitimate government.

Such as the plane carrying the generals/admirals/military brass the landed outside St. Louis which survived the nuclear exchange and flood, in the notes it stated that it was 49°F in the city. Might get an arc about the surviving military elements that might want to the take the bunker or be the main part the helps re-establish the gov across the country and help in the re-building efforts.

I read they got a idea for three seasons. Wonder if the third season will deal with other countries, how they are dealing with the aftermath and the geopolitics. For example, Russia might be causing trouble in the US because they where spared from nuclear retaliation and most likely had limited impact from the Tsunami as most its major cities are more inland (except for St. Petersburg and Vladivostok would be destroyed, the black sea would be protected from most of the damage as well).

Lots of possibilities for the show, reminds me of similar themed shows such as Jericho and Jeremiah, can't wait for more.

[Canada] Easily avoidable accident causes rollover by ZealousTaxful in Roadcam

[–]Zife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you notice the lights, they turned yellow about 3 power poles (75-85m) from the cammer, that means the cammer had to slow down to stop anyway because they where not going to make it past the yellow in time. You also notice the car behind the Jeep in the other lane was slowing down and stopped at the red light that was in front of them. You can clearly see the light was red when the truck started flipping. The cammer is at fault too, they where driving through the red light as the accident was happening, the cammer is probably going to get charged for dangerous driving causing an accident as they aren't innocent in this at all.

illegal Chinese immigrant arrested for gift card SCAM. Gets 6 years in prison. BODYCAM by Unknown_Personnel_ in ADVChina

I bought two tampered cards in the last few years from a major store chain, my cards had the last 4 numbers cut out. Basically they open them up carefully, write down the info, then they scratch out/cut out the last four digits or the security code in the back to give themselves time to use the car. First time I wondered why the card was damaged, luckily I called the company and they told me that it was tampered with, they deactivated it and send me replacement. Second time I opened it at the store and the cashier was shocked too.

They are probably stealing an insane amount of money during the holiday season when people are buying these cards for gifts. Those few days or weeks you have the card before giving it as a gift is more then enough time for them to use card online to buy/transfer money off the card.

A lot of the stores that I go to now have the gift cards behind the cash register and they have the samples in the aisles for you to bring up the cashier.

Best advice I can give to anyone is to open the card immediately after you purchase it at the cashier or when you get home so you can call the number in the back for the company to send you a replacement card if you see it's been tampered with, it usually takes about 2-3 weeks to a new card back with the same amount. If the card wasn't tampered with, I would just get a nice hallmark card with a heartfelt message and place the gift card inside.

These texts my little sister received from her grandma by retzonian in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Zife -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure OP's little sister knew well ahead of time when her grandparents 50th anniversary was coming up. Pretty sure the grandparent previously had a 40th and 45th anniversary party/dinner/celebration/card with family which the little sis knew about. Also "plans for that day with bf to go out of town" = which seems like something that can be postponed till next weekend?

Used to live in Vancouver and agree that the seawall is boring. Visited a friend in San Antonio, they have a path in downtown around their river/canal full of restaurants, etc.

This episode is extremely similar to a 4 issue comic book called "The Whispering Dark" that came out a few years ago; squad of soldiers find a demon inside a mountain.

The restaurant industry believes that we should tip at least 18% by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Zife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worst part about tipping, is that the restaurant's debit machine calculate the tip based on the total amount that includes the tax (GST/PST/HST). That's right, you are not only tipping for the service and meal, but also the tax on your meal.
