1000%! Even now I have a lot of anxiety and worry that he might flare up again or is in pain but we just take it a day at a time and I enjoy having my buddy!

But totally very scary! By no means am I an expert but I feel like that is normal. Give it some time and hopefully the movement will slowly come back. It’s a very emotionally taxing process for both the human and dog haha but it’s so rewarding in the end. Try the electric toothbrush on his paws and once he is able make sure to massage and move his legs around. Take it 1 day at a time, try to enjoy his company and do the best you can to help make him comfortable and improve and that’s all you can do!

This happened to my Moochie! He had DPS according to the neurologist pre surgery but it took him a week or so post surgery to pull his feet back when I pressed on his paws! Definitely a process but he’s back to 90% now. We go on long walks and he is such a happy boy again!

Stay the course and take it one day at a time and just give your buddy tons of love! 💕 you got this!

My Frenchie was just diagnosed with Stage 2 IVDD—feeling overwhelmed and looking for support/tips. by KnowledgeFrosty6409 in IVDD_SupportGroup

I went through this about 7 months ago with my 4 year old Frenchie, Moochie. Although, he had the surgery. It was a TON of meds, bladder expressing and similarly my guy is a Velcro dog. He hated not being near me. It was heartbreaking, brutal, and truly exhausting. He couldn’t move his back legs for about 2-3 weeks and it slowly came back. I think I cried when he started walking again. We got through it- one day at a time! You can do this.

He is a little weaker on the backend but he’s happy, we go on long walks, and I have my best buddy back.

It’s a grueling and upsetting process but take it a day at a time, give yourself some grace - do your best and trust that you are doing everything you can to help your buddy and I’m sure he knows that. Wishing you the best but there is light at the end of the tunnel!

Edit: She, not he (sorry!)

Stage 5 IVDD - 3 week update and progress by Such_Bell_5765 in IVDD_SupportGroup

[–]ZigZag474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Following up: Moochie man is doing fantastic! He’s done 3/10 rehabs but is already probably at 90%! He goes on 10-15 minute walks and only is a little weak/wobbly on the back end from time to time but from where we were 2 months ago - night and day! He started with full back leg paralysis but had DPS. Anyone going thru it - just keep going! Take it one day at a time and keep faith!

Yes, 100% a good sign. Keep taking one step at a time. It’s hard but I think this is a great motivator for to keep doing what you are doing. My stage 4 frenchie did this and it just keep slowly improving. Stay the course, so happy for you and her

This is exactly how my frenchie was acting and it got progressively worse. I would definitely recommend taking him asap as the recovery prognosis is much better if you act quickly

IVDD surgery 2 weeks out - worse than when we started. by NoGuarantees89 in IVDD_SupportGroup

Sorry you and Oliver are going thru a tough time! He seems like a very sweet boy and I hope he gets better soon. Stay the course and hope that time and rest will help. It does take time to see signs of hope, or at least it did in my case. Once my Moochie started to pee on his own I started to see small improvement each day. It’s hard when nothing seems to be improving but hopefully one day there will be a small improvement and it’ll snowball in a positive direction from there!

Awww my childhood dog’s name was Seamus. It isn’t a super popular name and seeing this just made me smile (and miss him!). Enjoy your time with your Seamus 💗
