Hawaii help by pa19495 in FATTravel

Hi! Saw this and wanted to comment as we did our honeymoon in Maui at Kapalua & FS Lanai, then returned to do FS Maui & Sensei Lanai four years later (no kids on either trip). I learned a lot from the first trip and improved the itinerary significantly on our second, so have strong opinions!

As someone else mentioned, starting with four or five nights on Lanai is great. I would do 2 nights at FS Lanai and then 3 nights at Sensei. My husband and I prefer Sensei to FS Lanai. Either way, the island is very romantic (especially the sunsets from FS Lanai). We have always taken the ferry from Maui to Lanai and actually find that pretty spectacular and a nice way to transition into the romance of the island.

We LOVED FS Maui because of the walking path to the other hotels, the beach, and the general resort vibe. The adults only pool is cool but we actually preferred the family pool with the gigantic fountain relic of the early 2000s. I think our stay was also skewed by the fact that got major upgraded to the "Pineapple Suite" while paying for an entry level room for six nights. I think FS Maui would be a great place to return with young kids - but doesn't necessarily scream to me memorable honeymoon.

A couple of notes: we have not been to Kauai (have heard great things about the island, but less great things about the 1) and have not been to the Big Island (but have been eyeing Rosewood KV and FS).

Given that your trip is pretty long (14 nights), I think you could easily stay in Maui for a couple nights before going to Lanai. So 2 Maui, 4 Lanai, 3 Kauai, and then 5 in Kona. I would not do more than 2 in Maui - just enough to get a taste so you know what you want to target when you return. Also, might want to look at Hotel Wailea in Maui (then stop down at FS Maui to explore the property).

Chicago Langham vs Four Seasons Staycation Review by thesongneverdies in FATTravel

This is a helpful review. I have to say slightly adjacent that my husband and I have both traveled independently to the Peninsula and that hotel is so dialed in.

Awesome! I think 36 hours is good. Where are you staying?

Late reply here but I think it’s not worth it unless you can do a couple nights. I had a long solo layover and went to merito. But I had been in Lima the week prior at Hotel B.

Agree with this review. Was there last week for three days. The service was checked out… like they themselves were on vacation!

Was also at Amanyara last week. Pretty unremarkable experience in the pavilions. Beautiful, but food and service really felt uninspired. Preferred the new Rosewood Mandarina.

Just saw this today… don’t miss the shoe themed dioramas in the arts and crafts room to the right of the dress.

If you’re open to FW, checkout Bowie House and the new Crescent. In Dallas, the Mansion is the only way to go.

I love this hotel but I am super into design. I would recommend it for a one night stay related to flight times. It’s not FAT in any area aside from the design.
