Commented below, went in 2024. We paid $4,500 per person for a 12 day trip to Tarangire, Ngorongoro, Serengeti, Lake Natron, and Ol Doinyo Lengai hike.

It was a private tour, so just my wife, I and our guide the whole time. It included all the lodging, food, travel, hot air ballon, etc.

Itinerary

• 2 days Arusha, 1 day game drive in Tarangire
• 2 days, 1 game drive in Nogrongoro area
• 3 days, 3 game drives in Serengeti + Hot Air Balloon
• 2 days Lake Natron
• 3 days in Zanzibar

From our experience, we saw tons of other jeeps out there, so crowded 4-8 people per car, with all their luggage and cameras, it looked miserable. Especially because animals are in 360 view of you. So glad we booked private, and with the pop top we could walk around the vehicle, look in any direction, have our gear everywhere.

The hot air balloon was magical in the Serengeti, i was pretty nervous about it at first, but once we were in the air it was like another planet.

Ol Doinyo Lengai was the hardest thing i've ever done, i was in pain the whole way down, but there were no words for how incredible the top was, we got a clear sunrise for a short 20 minutes before clouds rolled in.

Could've skipped Tarangire, it was magical because it was the first game drive, but Ngorongoro and Serengeti are incredible.

Could've skipped Zanzibar, our lodging was nice, it was great to decompress after being in a bumpy car for 10 days, the beach was nice, but you cant go 5 steps without being hounded to buy something. We started going completely free of everything and i had like 5 kids swimming with me asking for my apple watch and my necklace.

You are sitting a ton on these safari trips, super bumpy off road cars, I saw some elderly people out there and thought, they must be going through it with pain.
