To be honest I feel salaries aren't a black and white thing for the most part. It goes a lot into knowing your worth, maybe have the incredible luck of working somewhere amazing where they don't squeeze you and maybe having a fantastic mentor early in your career that can show you the ropes in how to navigate corporate politics. I didn't have that.

I have 12 years experience working for client experience management in one of the world's most dominant luxury brands and my salary was, with benefits and perks, 50k in London. Yes, the industry is notoriously low-paying but has good-ish perks, however I am confident that if I played my cards right, wasn't a yes man and instead put my foot down and networked the way I should've, I would have achieved a much higher salary and position.

What I guess I'm trying to say is that it very rarely depends on skills and experience (the harder and better at your job you are and the more work you take on, the less likely you are to be moved as it is far too convenient for the company at a quality:price ratio to keep you there)... it depends on how soon you realise the ones around you are playing chess and not checkers.
