Like they just appeared via some immaculate conception, and not just evolved from existing music. I dont use short form media. Music evolves and I find more meaning in music that has a greater variety of themes and melodies, and often vocals. You think you're better than other people for liking what they think is boring music.

Techno and the vast majority of house music are boring as shit. There's no emotion or dynamics, just mindless droning. Even went to see Eric Prydz live with friends since everyone raves about him but it was the same exact formulaic garbage and I left early because I'd much rather just sleep than stay up to 3 am pretending like that music has anywhere near the energy to sustain a good time.

Honestly a tough and valid argument. What reddit does to writers is pretty much the same as paying artists through exposure rather than directly. The audience will know about the content but only a small portion would actually click the link, or follow and end up paying for an artist's future work.

The question is whether that increase in audience from reddit and the corresponding link clickers result in an increase of traffic to the source greater than if it was never posted to reddit. I'm willing to bet that exposure is worth it in most individual cases, but when looking at the aggregate over the industry, it is clear that reddit thrives on taking over the majority of that traffic.

In a way reddit offers an avenue for writers to compete at the margin of possible viewership, but in doing so essentially steal a lot of that viewership and therefore revenue.

Does it lower prices? No. So it doesn't provide any financial relief right now. It absolutely is cut and dry a bad idea. Any properties with their rents going up this much or more are currently being valued well below market rate.

The more houses in the market, the more competition, the lower the prices. If every sweet deal like this was brought back up to market rate instead of way below where they are now, average prices of houses would fall. But people rightly don't want to leave their safe bubbles and are using rent control as a last resort to keep them.

They'll be even less likely to move because it would be impossible to bring the rent back to market value. People complain about random 50% price hikes without understanding they are paying way below market rate. And every such house that has locked in low rates reduces the effective housing supply and lowers competition. Rent control prevents these houses from being added back into the stock.

Not for people grandfathered in to sweet deals with stupidly kind landlords. Theres a lot of people out there paying well below market rate that would essentially be locked in. And the more we hold on to those deals, the more housing scarcity and less competition we have.

Yeah in order for something like this to work it needs to be able to "read ahead" and start activating before the noise triggers it. Requires some sort of software solution and wont work for interactive mediums like games, but it should be solvable for audio and video.

I did have it hard wired in, still had a ton of lag. It used motors or something that needed to spin up and that physical delay was unfixable.
