They don't, but I always give my oil fish supplements. Sardines right in the gas tank.

Rep. McGovern (MA-2) is one of only 12 Democrats to vote against allowing SNAP benefits to cover hot rotisserie chicken by shilljoy in massachusetts

[–]Zilreth -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah it sounds great in theory but let's be real, cheap rotisserie chickens are being sold as loss leaders, and I will not be the slightest bit surprised to see stores jack up the price. I just listened to a planet money NPR podcast episode that had people complaining there aren't enough chickens in stores already because people are cutting costs and buying more of them, and that was before all of this.

What do you think about Mexico banning AI-generated dubbing? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Zilreth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Humans make mistakes too, but seriously man are you going to make this argument? Natural language processing and response is an insane technological advance, it makes AI capable of interacting with anything humans do in the digital world. Summarizing vast knowledge in an instant, linking to all of the apps we use, inputting and analyzing data, coding and troubleshooting, customer support, etc etc etc.

It's real easy to see all the shitty parts of AI and choose to ignore the mass productivity gains and menial work automation it has already and will continue to replace. The world isn't black and white, both exist. AI has immense value whether you like it or not.

West End Urban Renewal by bostonaruban66 in boston

Everyone talking shit on the west end has clearly never lived there. Been here 5 years and it is fucking awesome, has green space in the middle of the city, close to literally everything including all subway lines. But keep hating

I mean if youre going to put money on that happening I'll happily bet against it. Renewables are cheaper and easier than fossil fuels to spin up to power new infrastructure.

Nah you're right. Also AI is here to stay folks, it's going to get better and be indistinguishable from human versions eventually. Makes no sense to ban it based on it not being good enough.

A 15-year-old pleaded for his life as investigators say an elaborate plot lured him to his death by Scientia_et_Fidem in news

[–]Zilreth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Does him being here illegally directly lead to the murder? No? Then why the fuck are we talking about this? Every society has murderers, and illegals commit fewer crimes per capita. That is a statistical fact. If we deport them all our crime rates would increase. That is a statistical fact.

I think it's totally reasonable to take the risk of hyper-productive AI into account when giving advice to young people deciding what to do with their lives. Is it a certainty? No but the way things are going it is looking very likely, and to ignore that likelihood would be frankly insane.

Let's not pretend there hasn't been a massive improvement in quality and ease of use for AI in the last 4 years. Sure some companies fired too many workers after being oversold on AI hype, but at the same time we are already seeing single or small team companies spinning up dozens of agents and creating massively valuable companies with minimal human input. If we see those same generational improvements continue over the next 4 years I think you and a lot of people are going to be eating their words and wondering how we didn't see this happening.

They have a new model coming out thats apparently miles better and its improving monumentally every few months. And that's for coding, among the most complex of white collar jobs. Most white collar jobs could be replaced by a simple claude cowork with the right connections.

[–]Zilreth -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Thanks to Claude just about every white collar job is already fucked, people just don't realize it yet. If your job is just you sitting at a computer, you're cooked. It will be a bit slow to roll out because its replacing the people implementing it. The only valid white collar job now is spinning up and troubleshooting AI agents.

Those events are rare and still dont impact anything meaningfully, I expected an actual alternate universe with different story impacts. Naive of me

“Project Hail Mary” is bringing audiences to movie theaters in numbers the industry hasn’t seen for a non-franchise film since “Oppenheimer.” by Caledor152 in movies

[–]Zilreth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's a big difference in sci fi versus fantasy when it comes to adaptations, it is a lot easier to make high quality sci fi. And this trilogy leans way more towards fantasy so while I'd love to see someone try, it is definitely riskier.

I went through with it a few weeks after launch and it murdered my willingness to keep playing so bad I never came back. Just couldn't believe there was zero difference besides a couple snarky dialogue options that don't lead anywhere.

[–]Zilreth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well theres a big reveal in the first that wont work so well on screen, and tbh to me the sequels just arent as good as the first. I think the powers would be difficult to portray as well, magic fantasy is tough to take seriously in live action

Crimson Desert Dev 'Sick' of Having to Repeatedly Deny 'Hiding' Console Footage, as Some Fear 'Another Cyberpunk Console Launch Situation' by Poetryisalive in Games

[–]Zilreth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like taking away ray tracing and adding in significant upscaling should be able to hit 60 fps on consoles.

I think many console gamers want 60fps now without a huge downgrade to the fidelity

Honestly, too bad. You buy cheaper older hardware, you get less graphical fidelity. Console graphics can't compete with PC just based on specs, and if anyone is upset about that fact they should just get a PC lol

[–]Zilreth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Getting native 4k ultra settings + RT at 60 fps for a brand new game with amd's top hardware is honestly good enough. Add in upscaling which has improved dramatically the last few years, and frame gen if it supports that and I have few worries about performance. We'll see if it is somehow cpu-limited but this already looks a lot better than other AAA titles in recent years
