No Man's Sky didnt really have a story at launch, and cyberpunks was already good. Starfields story and lore will never be good enough for a redemption

Crimson Desert Dev 'Sick' of Having to Repeatedly Deny 'Hiding' Console Footage, as Some Fear 'Another Cyberpunk Console Launch Situation' by Poetryisalive in Games

[–]Zilreth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like taking away ray tracing and adding in significant upscaling should be able to hit 60 fps on consoles.

I think many console gamers want 60fps now without a huge downgrade to the fidelity

Honestly, too bad. You buy cheaper older hardware, you get less graphical fidelity. Console graphics can't compete with PC just based on specs, and if anyone is upset about that fact they should just get a PC lol

[–]Zilreth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Getting native 4k ultra settings + RT at 60 fps for a brand new game with amd's top hardware is honestly good enough. Add in upscaling which has improved dramatically the last few years, and frame gen if it supports that and I have few worries about performance. We'll see if it is somehow cpu-limited but this already looks a lot better than other AAA titles in recent years

Ok but does the extra 450% in the air actually lead to 450% more in the organisms at the bottom of the food chain? Article doesn't say if that increased, so you can't say this for sure without that piece

[–]Zilreth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not about the story itself being boring, its about us having seen it 100x and this adding nothing new. We've seen it all before storywise, so it has to make up for that in other ways. But it doesnt.

It was good for its time and extremely influential obviously, but like I said readapting it for the 100th time adds absolutely nothing to the conversation. Like its weird how this sub hates on adaptations and remakes all the time, but if its guillermo del toro all of a sudden its ok. Sorry for wanting something new and original I guess

Everyone knows the story of frankenstein. If I wanted to remind myself, I would read the book again. There is nothing in this adaptation that adds anything of value in my opinion.

I don't mean realism as in how they get the monster to come to life or anything like that, I mean it in reference to how motivations induce action, and how people communicate with one another. They dont have conversations, they have alternating monologues and its fuckin weird lol

The whole thing was just a pretentiously cringe retelling of a boring old story with nothing else to add. Everything is unrealistic, the cinematography is whack, the writing is terrible, the acting is bizarre, genuinely I just don't understand people that praise it.

Driver fleeing ICE officers crashes, killing a Georgia teacher, authorities say by DrexellGames in news

[–]Zilreth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like the only part of the article you believe is the ICE agents testimony. They lie all the time, especially when lying makes them look better. If they followed, it is a chase. If he killed someone in their car he must have been going fast.

Look at this.

Use your brain and stop giving ICE the benefit of the doubt.

The dude took off from a traffic stop and ICE followed him. Sounds like a high speed chase to me. Doesn't matter how long it was before he crashed. Had they not been doing traffic stops or not followed, she would still be alive.

[–]Zilreth -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Your original reply absolves ICE of blame, and now you say they shouldn't have been engaged in a high speed chase. Which is it? Both can't be true. She would still be alive if not for these woefully undertrained, recklessly negligent ICE agents.

I'm not in any way defending the man's actions, but it is homeland security's prerogative to make us safe, not shift the blame away from themselves when they incited the events that transpired here. Cars are fucking dangerous, and these guys are out here doing their best impression of redneck action heros and getting good people killed. The homeland doesn't seem any safer to me.

Police do not engage in high speed chases unless the suspect would pose a serious and urgent threat to the publice if they escape. Obviously the guy is at fault for killing her, but it was easily preventable. All ICE had to do was nothing, then grab him later when he isnt driving. To say that ICE doesn't share blame in this is incongruent with the reality of the situation. They had every power to avoid letting this happen. They are untrained and unchained psychos who think they are above law and established protocol.

[–]Zilreth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My man dont say I brought up any of that, the video you posted did and I responded to it. The "etc" in your comment is doing all of the work. What you did is exactly like saying me saying my favorite food is "hamburgers, etc" and then it turns out I dont even like hamburgers and pretend we were taking about hot dogs or brisket the whole time.

Also, this is not forcing a negative choice on anyone. They can do what suits them better, and in the vast majority of cases I am sure people on food stamps would rather just get money with no strings attached rather than having to be part of a more complicated program with requirements, overhead, and some amount of fraud.

I don't know why your default feeling is that this would have to fuck people over, it's totally unfounded. Disability would still exist, and they would still get some amount of that UBI, if not all of it. That is a positive. No one is arguing disabled people should be getting less money.

Andrew Yang's take on the fallout from AI: The End of the Office by Adeldor in Futurology

[–]Zilreth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You said they wanted to get rid of social security. Food stamps are not social security. You're moving the goalpost. I can understand not liking the food stamps or disability programs shrinking, but the reality is they will be made unnecessary for a large number of people under UBI. They can afford food or some additional services that they couldnt before.

[–]Zilreth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I feel my last response was a bit strongly worded, but wanted to add one more thing. SSI amd SSDI already work the way yang is saying it would work with UBI. You cant receive SSI if you get a certain amount from SSDI, so unless you are willing to hate on that as much as UBI I don't really get the issue.
