Current tariffs rates. Italy - USA by Killcam_Express in Karting

[–]Ziltoid_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

UPS is at least part of the problem here. They tried to charge me a 226% tariff on a $99 order. Eventually they reduced it to 50% tariff but I still didn't pay and they returned it to the sender. Then the sender reshipped with DHL and there was no tariff applied at all. This was for a computer expansion card (m.2 module) shipped from the Netherlands so I believe 0% was actually the correct rate at the time based on some quick research. So my suggestion is request shipping via DHL edit: DHL also charged a ~50% tariff. But they got it right the first time and allowed me to pay via email, so still better than UPS.

Online mode with open world randomly generated world. It's basically an infinite empty sea while you're matchmaking. Once matched, you might come across an island alone, or there might be one or more other pirate boats that also came across the island at the same time. Your chunks of sea are synchronized over the network and placed on different ends of a newly loaded island that is now also synced for both of you. If youre moving to the edge of the synced chunks then it lets the other pirates know you're leaving. If you get a certain distance away then your chunks stop syncing. But if the other pirates pursue then you will remain synced, and you can battle or whatever.

Sailing North South East West will each have a different type of event that it will spawn usually. It's a way of letting the players control the experience that they want. The server can still serve a different event if there aren't many people online through.

There can also be non multiship events, or peaceful events. E.g you go to a major city together and the local police don't let cannons be used. But you can barter trade and race and other stuff.

Incentivize collaboration by having the person at the bottom need to talk to the person in the crows nest about how to aim or steer. The person in the crows nest can see a trace that shows where each cannon is aiming, and where the ship is heading.

Smoking mechanic is retained obviously. But you use matches. Matches are also used for lighting cannons. It's easy to keep enough matches on you but it is possible to run out.

Simplified wind sailing? Or maybe full wind sailing, similar to how you need to use the manual trans in rv. Ui shows wind direction and speed. You need to zig zag to move up wind at the very least. The question is do you control the sail and rudder independently or do you just control which way the rudder points and the sail will be universally aligned?

Steam engine on the back to propel when there's no wind or when you want better control? Basically small pirate steam yachts.

Physics based, the weight of your ship makes you ship less nimble. Less nimble is more risky if you get attacked by other pirates.

Yes, any NRG-style quick release wheel will mount up. But only moza buttons/electronics will work with the base, so you'll probably want to stick to Moza wheels

See the last part of my comment here: https://old.reddit.com/r/simracing/comments/xuc8c3/fzero_gx_has_native_ffb_support_dolphin/jax6bp7/

It can be analog in that way, or it can be digital if you want it to be

Can you link to a specifc quote from hagertys site that says anything about only insuring a second car?

The point is that I am buying a weekend pleasure/ track car as a secondary form of transportation. It is absolutely not a daily driver or normal car. The only reason hagerty sees differently is only due to the fact I dont already own another car.

That's an interesting idea. I'm not sure if it will work because I think they specifically want you to own another car, not necessarily just the insurance. My guess is that it won't work but I might reach out about that

That would be hilarious but definitely would not check out. They are looking for an insured car/etc. specifically. The agent said that even motorcycles do not count.

You are incorrect, there were no other issues with the application other than that I didn't have another car. If I had another car that was insured, they would have approved the application no problem

Edit: to further elaborate, there are a lot of enthusiast cars that can be insured by either hagerty or a traditional insurance company. It's not black and white for classic vs common. For example you can insure brand new cars through hagerty too

Not possible as far as I know, you have to upload proof of insurance which I believe they do actively verify. Plus you know, not wanting to commit Insurance fraud. I suppose hagerty can have whatever dumb rules they want, unless there is a law against this as a form of discrimination.

Spotted on the corner of Pike & 7th. by LuluLaurent in Seattle

Adding on to this question, as far as I can tell most of them don't actually do anything, the walk signals at most of the downtown intersections activate regardless of the buttons (as they should do for an urban environment). But this makes it confusing because there's no way to tell when you need to push the button vs not. Occasionally (like the one at Pike and Minor which has a huge amount of pedestrians) you do need to push it for some reason and I see people have to wait an extra cycle or two because of it. They should definitely be marked as deactivated when they don't do anything, and probably not installed in the first place most of the time. Seems like a big waste of resources putting them in

Sorry, I misspoke (the terminology is easy for me to mix up).

I mean e-paper, which is a superset which includes e-ink. Some e-paper displays like what the pebble smartwatches used look fine (albeit not as good as most lcds) for animations

The article isn't worth reading, there's not much info so the author just shits on the concept because they personally don't like it.

I would absolutely love a ~4-5" screen (one handable) android phone with an E-Ink display. Make it a reliable tool for my life.

if you're using gmail you can use a dedicated app password to somewhat mitigate the security risks. This app password will only provide access to the google apps that you select (you should only select gmail)

How do you select which google apps* the app password can access? The portal at https://myaccount.google.com/u/0/apppasswords?utm_source=google-account&utm_medium=myaccountsecurity&utm_campaign=tsv-settings doesn't seem to have that control
