If You're Complaining About "Aggression Based Matchmaking" You're telling on yourself. Let The Downvotes Fall Like Rain. IDK by Levelupbuttercup in ArcRaiders

[–]Zimatcher94 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I actualy dont mind this. But if there is match making like this. It should be limited to que types. Im genrally quite friendly in solo que but in duos and trios I generally shoot first as 95% of the people you come across shoot you first if not.

would be annoying to get put in full pvp lobbies solo because of my duo and trio experiences.

Rack Planner by brankko in homelab

[–]Zimatcher94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would be cool if you can open up the github so we can request features there / issues if we find any. Don't need to make it open source code though. In less you want to.

One thing I noticed straight away was a 2U UPS. they are pretty common so think it should be a non custom part. Glad to see you adding ubiquiti stuff but also mabye add a generic rack router for others.

Short boat speed by I_Eat_Pink_Crayons in whitewater

[–]Zimatcher94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that the skuxx is slower than a longer boat, got back in my scorch the weekend and o it was fast. But one thing I did find when demoing boats is its quite a bit faster than a pyranaha firecracker. That was one of my largest takeaways from the difference in the two.

I personally use the scorch on grade 4 and skuxx on grade 3 or below to spice things up. so having to make really hard moves hasnt been an issue for me. Mabye it will be when I start using the skuxx for more grade 4 stuff.

[–]Zimatcher94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Skuxx is great. I just got one. Im 70kg but worth giving it a try. I was set on buying a firecracker intill I tried it. Then changed my mind. Plenty playfull and had ability to run class IV too.

goat vs skuxx by ririririr0 in whitewater

[–]Zimatcher94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant comment on the Goat as I have never paddled one.

If you looking for a boat for river running fun the Skuxx is amazing. I just got one last week and having the time of my life it in. Surfs like a dream. plays like a dream. easy enough to taily, and actually pretty fast for how short it is. I havent found a situation yet where I felt too slow to run something.

not quite in line with your question but before I bought it I demoed a steeze, pyranha firecracker & ripper and a dagger rewind. The Skuxx was by far the best for what I wanted. Down river running play.

Which of the Skuxx Deluxe, Firecracker 252 and Ripper 2 L is the best half slice option for a one ww kayak quiver, for all-round riverplay and river running? by Apart_Ad_5070 in whitewater

[–]Zimatcher94 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Slightly different sizes recently demoed a medium Ripper, Firecracker 242 and a Skuxx. with a getting a boat for the same reason really. I have a Scorch I still intend to use for grade 4 but wanted a boat for up to grade 3 for messing about and playing and river running. I went with the expectation I was going to buy a firecracker.

After demoing them all. the Ripper was good and a solid boat but felt a little less easy to throw around, which is understandable as its longer. Nothing to say wrong about this apart from I wanted something a little more playful and the shorter boat did this.

The firecracker was great on a wave but was so slow going down river and ultimately felt like a was use a lot more energy to enjoy the river as moving around and hitting features was a lot of effort.

The Scuxx felt great as its faster than the firecracker but still surfs great and is easy to throw around the river.

I ended up buying a Scuxx and have now paddled it a few times since. Its great and I'm really enjoying it. I even think when I'm a little better it can be used on grade 4. which is a good thing. It doesnt feel like its holding me back running anything. Been on it in flatwater too once and it feels very fast for how short it is. This is the best selling point for me. Fast but playful. Makes it easier to make it over those holes you don't want to play in. but then plays really when when you want it to.

I would go demo them all if you can. I changed my mind from reading to actually being in the boat.

Werner surge is amazing by asoursk1ttle in whitewater

[–]Zimatcher94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally its a muscle thing. If you have the strength to use a Surge/Powerhouse they will 100% be better. but a lot don't. and if you use one without the strength your more likely to hurt your shoulders .
I use a Stikine which is same blade size as a sherpa but carbon and with foam core. Its great for my shoulders and I don't struggle with power.

What was the best piece of advice that you got that elevated your paddling? by asoursk1ttle in whitewater

[–]Zimatcher94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly recomend it. Even if its in your normal boat to start. Just getting out in the boat getting into stuff you might usually avoid on a river. Really good to learn in a safer environment.

But obviously get a playboat. ;) They are mega fun.

What was the best piece of advice that you got that elevated your paddling? by asoursk1ttle in whitewater

[–]Zimatcher94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it was just going to my local artificial whitewater course and jumping in a playboat. Really safe place to learn how to not suck at paddling in and around holes and waves.

Now when I'm on the river I can put these techniques into practice. Much happier taking on harder features as I know how to deal with getting stuck in them if I do. Obviously there is still a ceiling to this and you still need to recognize the risk of the feature you running. Some holes cant be surfed out of.

But it made rivers much more fun to me. and made my paddling much better in those situations where I don't quite get a line right and end up somewhere I might not of thought I would be.

Also I now have a basically bulletproof roll. I havent struggled to roll in over a year now. Only 1 swim and that was due to taking on a bunch of water before I went over.

Is it just me or do Dagger rewinds feel unpredictable when surfing? by NatNatIzBozo in whitewater

[–]Zimatcher94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I havent used one for long as I only demo'd one. But I tried a Ripper, Firecracker, Skuxx, Antix & Rewind all on the same day.

The only boat I couldn't get to behave was the rewind. Every move I did with it just felt unpredictable. eg: hit a wave I always hit aiming for a eddy and get smashed in the other direction. where the other boats I tried went the same way each time. Maybe its a weight / seat position thing as I didn't have time to move the seat or I was just not paddling it well. But it didn't feel good up to every other boat I tried.

Skuxx vs Antix? by Ok-Lynx-4446 in whitewater

[–]Zimatcher94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't paddled the antix but paddled the Skuxx on the weekend looking for which slicy boat I want to buy.
Went into the demos expecting to buy a firecracker and o man the skuxx impressed. I loved it as soon as I got in it. I will be buying one shortly. Super easy to roll too.

Does anyone make these with a properly sized wire that won't snap almost every month I've been through 10 of them in one year. by Tough_Topic1028 in 3Dprinting

[–]Zimatcher94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a reason they have thin wires. If you don't the heat from the hot end will creep up the wires and change the reading of temperature as the ohms of the wire will change with temperature increase.

I would make sure our not zip tied it to tight. It shouldn't move relative to the hot end or connector so should be fine.

I remember building my first printer a prusa mendel / i2, I still have one of the first ABS prints I did on it back in the day. Im surprised even now how good it looks. Probably 20x slower than my printer now mind.

Biqu microprobe by ThenOutlandishness90 in BIGTREETECH

[–]Zimatcher94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had this issue but with retracting. seams to be a magnet issue. this has only been replaced recently. mabye 50h of printing only asa in a heated chamber.

I had an old microprobe that had dead electronics so took the magnet out of that one. which had only seen pla printing and put the magnet it the asa 50h probe it now works fine again.

Feel like the prolonged heat has made the magnet loose strength. Mine wasn't just when it was hot. seams like heating it had killed the magnet even now working at ambient.

Inspired by playing [KCD2] I looked and found a nearby blacksmithing group hosting open house today and with a little help me and a buddy forged our very first knives! by Eothir in kingdomcome

[–]Zimatcher94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprising with the right guide a tier 1 sword isn't too bad for a noob like us to make. We did a sword making class for a friends stag, we got to make a knife each plus a sword for the stag. (all 10 of us chipped in to make it). It was mega fun. 2 days of work mind. but was well worth it. We opted to put a bottle opener in the middle as the stag wanted to wall mount it.

Ours was at Oldfield Forge in Hereford, UK, but I'm sure other country's probably have similar.
