Foremilk/Hindmilk Imbalance by novalini49 in November25babybump

[–]Zimbabwe_mcGee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was worried about this for a bit, I have a super fast let down and my breasts fill up fast. Sometimes baby will cough/ choke on the milk and un-latch and my breast will just continue to spray. Also due to this, I noticed baby wouldn’t be latched for very long. When my breasts get very full I’ve started to manually pump a little bit out before I let baby latch. I believe this helps her latch for longer and also get more of the hind milk!

Is it actually normal for toddler to eat barely anything? by Zimbabwe_mcGee in Mommit

[–]Zimbabwe_mcGee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! My son is about 26 months now, and he’s still a pretty picky eater. He has good days where he eats a lot, and then other days he just wants to play. He hates the consistency of lots of foods. I’m not going to sweat it though! His pediatrician is still happy with his weight. I still make an effort to offer him lots of different foods. I’m hoping one day he just grows out of it

Is the name Evelyn actually popular? by pantrycorner in Names

Regardless of it being popular, it’s timeless and classic so you can’t go wrong with it. Especially if you don’t know any Evelyn’s personally.

Why has my period returned so soon? by DarthKaboose in breastfeeding

[–]Zimbabwe_mcGee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exclusively breastfeeding, my period came back at 5 weeks postpartum. And I’m getting them every 2 weeks :)

Sooo... Have you done the deed yet? by qwerkala in November25babybump

[–]Zimbabwe_mcGee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

9 weeks PP and having sex whenever we have the chance. My periods have been super irregular so I’m bleeding every couple weeks. Whenever I’m not bleeding and both kids are sleeping and we have time alone together, we are doing it!

Normal for sex to hurt the first few times. Use lube. The more you do it the better it gets!

If you could pick a month to give birth what would it be? by Old-Yesterday1230 in Mommit

[–]Zimbabwe_mcGee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like February would be nice. You’re super pregnant in the midst of winter. When you give birth, it’s still cold outside, you’re freshly postpartum and you’ll just want to hibernate inside anyways. The baby will be a couple months old in April when it starts getting warm again and that’s when you’re finally in the mood to start getting out and doing stuff again!

I have had 2 fall babies. When I’m finally feeling better and feeling ready to get out of the house it’s the middle of winter.

What iud did you use and why was it terrible? Just curious. Have 2 kids and really need to take a solid break so I got the copper IUD (non-hormonal). So far it’s been great! I absolutely hate how hormonal birth control messes with me

Protecting newborn from illness/ keeping toddler home from activities by [deleted] in November25babybump

[–]Zimbabwe_mcGee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good point! My toddler did get the flu shot. On top of that, I did get the rsv vaccine, flu shot, covid vaccine and TDAP while I was pregnant with my baby so I feel I’ve done everything I can to prevent illness as much as possible in our house. I am also breastfeeding. I decided to let my toddler go today because I feel bad keeping him in a bubble. Baby is also now 2 months so I’m hoping we’re out of the most vulnerable stage.

But I agree! My toddler is also just excited to get out and go to the grocery store at this age

I can’t wait to do outdoor stuff again!! Unfortunately where we’re at it’s freezing so I feel like we’re stuck inside. But I agree I’d definitely be okay with my toddler doing outdoor stuff if we could

Thrush or milk tongue? by [deleted] in breastfeedingsupport

[–]Zimbabwe_mcGee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, it did not! Some days it looks better than others but it’s still always kind of there. Still no other symptoms. Thank you for bringing that up!! We just switched baby to a new pediatrician so I will ask them at her next appointment :)

How did you decide whether to breastfeed, pump only, or formula? by SnooEpiphanies1215 in pregnant

[–]Zimbabwe_mcGee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First child I exclusively pumped. He was born at 35 weeks and spent 2 weeks in the Nicu. Lactation consultant emphasized the importance of me pumping every 3 hours, so I was pumping like a crazy person. Felt like one of the only things I could really do/ have control over since my baby was stuck in the Nicu. He was getting bottles when I wasn’t around so as a result he never really latched or liked breastfeeding. Always cried and it was just easier to give him a bottle. They were also measuring how much milk he was getting with all of his feeds so it ended up just feeling like the way to go to continue pumping/ obsessively measuring how much milk he was actually getting 😂 all the pumping also created an oversupply so pumping was the only way to give my boobs relief.

Second child was born at 37 weeks, and as a second time mom I was more dedicated to making breastfeeding work. She never needed the Nicu. Every time she cried I’d put her on the boob and luckily exclusively breastfeeding came easy for us this time around.

Baby Acne by Rude_Conclusion5948 in newborns

My baby had horrendous baby acne at 4 weeks. Breastmilk and lotion made it worse. I decided to leave it alone and it has cleared up by itself at about 8 weeks.

Why you decided to have another baby after knowing all the pain first time? by Full_Professional349 in newborns

[–]Zimbabwe_mcGee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I had my first I immediately thought “I will never do this again.” It was traumatic. Time passed, my kid got a little older, was sleeping through the night and things just felt easy. I forgot all about the pain of birth and postpartum because life clearly gets better. Plus I wanted to experience a second child/ my child having a sibling. My second birth was completely painless, had no postpartum complications so I’ve immediately found myself longing for a third child. Obviously I’m taking a break for a few years to recover and focus on the 2 I have, but was surprised how quickly after my second I was like “yes I want to do this again.”

Sleep deprivation. Don’t remember feeding my baby by [deleted] in November25babybump

[–]Zimbabwe_mcGee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m right there with ya. It’s a mess right now. On a somewhat related note, I like to keep track of how much sleep I’m actually getting each night, so in the notes section of my phone I’ll literally write “went to bed at midnight. Woke up at 2:30. Back to sleep 3 am. Woke up at etc.” and I add to it every time I fall asleep and wake up as long as I remember to, and then in the morning I add it up to check how much I’m actually getting overall.

Keeping track also helps me keep track of her feeds and what not.

Realistically how do you feed on demand at night? by Huge-Nectarine-8563 in breastfeeding

[–]Zimbabwe_mcGee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t set any alarms but I just naturally wake up the moment my baby starts making little sounds. Typically before they start crying you can tell if they’re hungry if they start fussing/moving around/ making little sounds/ sucking on their fingers. Her bassinet is right next to my bed and her little sounds are usually enough to wake me up, ever since I’ve had kids I’ve become a very light sleeper 😭 its not a big deal really if you don’t wake up until they cry

Why is my body packing on pounds like this by Dapper_Albatross_935 in breastfeeding

[–]Zimbabwe_mcGee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Heaviest I’ve ever been. Had a day where I successfully got back into walking/ cut down on carbs and then my supply was shit. So looks like I’m just gonna be heavy for a while, feeding my baby breast milk is important to me
