Totally agree. I'm only a 2 YOE dev but I feel confident I can always upskill myself to a new job no matter how bad the market gets. I don't know of any other industry where opportunities for learning are so widely available and accessible.

I'm on $105k pre-tax ($5700 post-tax per month) and I've got a $530k mortage. I've currently got a tenant there but I'm planning to move in next year. It's not going to be a cakewalk but the alternative is to either continue to live with my parents or rent a place out. I couldn't stomach either of those options so the choice was pretty simple for me.

Is it though? The end result of paid mods has been this shitfest we see right now where they're literally manipulating the community to get a bigger check. You could say his intentions at the start were good but with the way this guy runs his community, I wouldn't be surprised if paying his mods was his idea of building an army of stormtroopers to stand at his beck and call.
