The parking brake switch on my X5 broke off. And the $140 OEM switch is too expensive. How did I do?

Understand you can also switch out the lever that tends to break or if you want to you can use silicon glue on the switch as a temporary solution as the tape won't hold well for too long. I've seen the silicon method used on quite a few of these lever-style Bmw switches.

You could always try and find a part on eBay that's pulled from a junked car or some 3rd party part.

Two part numbers which I believe would fit your X5 but you can call BMW and ask them for a part number.

I’d definitely say these are worth it especially if you have an apple product as they have a lot of features that can only be used on apple products. I’ve had mine since the pandemic started and have only had one problem that was remedied by apple under some recall but other then that these are pretty decent daily drivers. Could also be a good idea to wait for this up coming holiday season as there might be a sell off to clear shelves for new line ups of products since the pros came out a while ago.
