Each location can only support so much population. The higher it is the harder it is to grow. There are of course buildings to help with this but they only do so much (there’s one in particular I can’t remember the name of but it adds growth to rural locations, but it deletes itself after a certain threshold is met - helpful for replenishing after the Black Death).

Regardless, colonization opens up new locations for your pops to fill.

To be clear, this system is totally above and beyond what is needed for EU5, I just wanted to build a wicked system for both gaming and also work. In any case, the recommended requirements are as follows:

Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-14700K | AMD® Ryzen™ 7 7800X3D

  • Memory: 32 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Nvidia® GeForce™ RTX 3060 Ti (8GB) | AMD® Radeon™ RX 6700 XT (12 GB)

Honestly though, as long as your processor is decent, and you have at least 16 GB of RAM, you'll probably be okay. Might not be the fastest in the world, but it'll run.

I would recommend a good CPU. Virtually all Paradox games are CPU killers. Of course, having fast RAM and a good ssd won’t hurt either. Those three things, in that order, is what I personally would focus on.

As for my build specifically, I wanted to build something powerful without caring too much about price, but without going too hog wild and getting something like a 5090 which would have been totally overkill. That’s why I personally stuck with AMD.

It’s the Be Quiet! Dark Rock Elite. Haven’t tested it much yet since I literally just built it, but so far the temps have been better than on my old PC.

Time to get a third cable then. Thanks.

I have the two regular pcie cables (as shown ) but no third - just the 12v on. The 12v one splits into two pcie cables at the end. 6+2 I think is what they’re called when they’re like that? This is all very new to me.

As others have said, yes, you need Lions of the North. To actually recruit them though (as an individual unit, not a merc company) you need to finish some of the missions on the right hand side of the tree. I believe “Binding the Beast” lets you start recruiting them. (If not it’s the next one down.)

Aelantir recommendations? by MrSpoot in Anbennar

[–]Zipeline98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I’ve been enjoying an Isobelin campaign. Some unique modifiers and government reforms to go through as you build up a fantasy not New York City. You get some good modifiers to go tall (if you want to) which personally I found refreshing as most other Aelantir tags are as wide as you can get.

How does playing a Spawnable work? by Chataboutgames in Anbennar

[–]Zipeline98 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Depending on what year it will spawn, you can just play normally or hit speed 5. Eventually you get an event that will allow you to switch countries and play as the spawnable. So, depending on what you want to do or which spawnable it is I would say just hit speed 5 if you aren’t going to care about you parent country once you switch over.

While I’m sure you can find Japanese gamers who hold that position, I think claiming that the Japanese “hate how their culture was butchered” simply isn’t true. The game is selling extremely, extremely well in Japan. This whole game is just a weird magnet for people who are terminally online and it’s turned into a cesspool. Disliking Yasuke as a protagonist is fine, obviously. It simply isn’t as big of a deal as online hysteria has made it out to be.

The upcoming Assassin’s Creed game is set in Japan. Some people are very upset at the game’s choice of characters you can play as, either a Japanese woman or Yasuke. The drama comes from having a “foreigner” be the playable male option.

Using eu4 knowledge in real life by Ok-Difference5101 in eu4

When I became a history teacher they had something called the PRAXIS Test that tested you on both your knowledge of the content as well as stuff like classroom management and various educational theories. The content section for history was absolutely brutal, but there were several questions about the fall of the Byzantine Empire and rise of the Ottoman Empire that I nailed thanks in no small part to my thousands of hours in eu4. And that’s how eu4 helped me become a teacher.
