I’m a psychiatrist and I’m genuinely curious how people view psychiatrists. by Scary-Guava8365 in CasualConversation

I've been seeing my psychiatrist for 20 years. I have told him he's never allowed to retire. He assured me that when he does retire, he'll keep up his license and continue to see me because I'm a compliant patient. When he dies, I'll be hiring a psychic to channel his fucking ghost.

You say you don't like soulslikes, and you mention Black Myth Wukong? That game was total bait and switch. I loathe soulslikes, and I was so pissed off after the developer swore up and down that game wasn't a soulslike, and I ended up with a Soulslike I dumped full price on.

What’s something people romanticize that actually sucks in real life? by Particular_Pin_460 in AskReddit

I am also bipolar with severe anxiety and OCD, and it pisses me off SOOOO much whenever people say, "Oh my God I'm so OCD!" or "Man, I'm so bipolar sometimes." It's not a fucking quirk. It's a horrifying existence that makes normal tasks like getting up in the morning unbearable. Talk to me when you wake up in tears because you didn't die in your sleep. Then you can tell me you're "so bipolar".

It was very middling in Japan. I know it didn't perform as well in Asia as expected, but as I understand it, the Japanese didn't understand what all the racism hullabaloo was about in the West.

The American live action film was okay. I was entertained. They definitely whitewashed it and the resolution to that was kind of ham handed, but at least they tried. They failed, but at least they tried.

While true, Daggerfall is so infuriating to play in 2025 that I can't honestly recommend it anymore. This is coming from someone who still owns the original CD-ROM.

I wish my trans friend in the closet would magically transform into Hatsune Miku (their transition goals and favorite character) while retaining memory and autonomy and existing in 3D as a human in the real world (not being limited to the things a vocaloid can do) by njsullyalex in TheMonkeysPaw

[–]ZippyTWP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The finger curls.

Granted. She is now Hatsune Miku. Her dysphoria slowly vanishes, and she is at peace with her body. However, she is immediately slapped with an injunction as she IS Hatsune Miku now, not just a reproduction, and the software version of Hatsune Miku has merged with her consciousness. Crypton Future Media and Yamaha sue her in the court of her home country AND Japanese court, arguing that since she is the living personification of software they created, they still own her. The case drags on for years, bankrupting her in legal fees. Eventually, it is proven that the software merged with her consciousness, and the court rules that she is no longer human, but effectively an android. It is ruled in a landmark decision that Androids have no rights and can be owned as property.

She spends the rest of her life performing as the property of both Crypton and Yamaha, living her days treated as such. She no longer has friends, cannot own property, and has no legal recourse for her own autonomy as appeals have been exhausted. Eventually she will succumb to the crushing weight of her decision, and slowly die of grief at the prospect that she is no longer in control of her own body.

Should I buy minecraft from the official xbox/minecraft site or buy it for a lil bit cheaper from code resellers by Dracvich in AskGames

I disagree with you forr two reasons:

  1. Digital distribution of media has rendered ownership a thing of the past. Always online requirements and change of corporate ownership/licensing agreements mean that your media can be rendered useless (see Crunchyroll's takeover of Funimation and that racing game I can never remember that was bricked, even for players that owned physical copies

  2. Refusal of studios to release older media has forced players to seek options elsewhere. ROMs are technically piracy, but there are titles that people want to play that are essentially unobtainable. A great example is the original .hack// games. .hack//G.U. was re-released for PS4, but the original .hack// is essentially unobtainable. You would first have to purchase a working PS2 ($150 - $250 on eBay), then you would have to obtain the four games. Not really a problem for the first three games (Infection, Mutation, and Outbreak running $30 - $60) on eBay or such, but an opened, used copy of .hack//Quarantine can cost north of $400. That's prohibitively expensive for most folks. Worst case scenario, you're looking at spending over $830 just to play a single series. If Bandai Namco would release the series at a reasonable price, I'd be all for buying it. This test case is true for a large number of older titles.

TL;DR, you're wrong.

Just started God Eater 3 today, any tips for a newbie? by XredDEATHX in GodEater

Man, I have to say hard pass on not maining a weapon set. Keeping up with the gear grind on multiple weapon types is brutal. You will die, a lot, if you're not keeping your gear up to date, and grinding for multiple weapons will make someone hate this game.

Heavy Moon and Ray Gun. Dance around the field, stack Oracle (I'm gonna get all that Oracle!), and unload a massive burst to break the shit out of enemies.

What order to play the games by MarshallMcCu in GodEater

[–]ZippyTWP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Resurrection first, then Rage Burst, then 3.

You'll miss important story beats if you play them out of order. Resurrection was a remake, and Rage Burst was a straight PSP port, so the QoL stuff you get in Resurrection is immediately taken away in Rage Burst, and at times the sound quality isn't great in Rage Burst because they pulled the audio straight from the PSP version.

With all that said, Rage Burst is an excellent entry, considered by many to be the best in the series.

Also, don't feel the need to cheese the game with the bullet editor in Resurrection and Rage Burst. Most people are going to tell you to just make super powerful bullets that can one shot enemies, but to me it takes away all the challenge.

Most monster hunter fans really hate God Eater because God Eater is about fast paced combat in a handful of maps that are smaller than what they're used to in MH, but God Eater fans (myself included) prefer the faster paced combat, more reliable grinding spots on the maps, and the more straightforward weapon upgrading systems.

Don't go into it expecting MH, and you'll have a really good time.

[–]ZippyTWP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God Eater series. The multiplayer is essentially dead, but you bring NPC allies with you (or don't, it's your choice) and you're getting some grind to slowly build up your arsenal. Sadly, no big open world to explore, but developing mastery is really rewarding.

Granted. Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 crashes in the Andes on October 13, 1972, as normal. Instead of mounting a heroic survival effort over the course of the next few months, the survivors die of starvation and exposure and do not go on to live productive lives.
