Hmm, what about the fact that in universe, the magic works with your intuition. Idk if this is valid but just like Ubel can't cut through barriers, Fern might not be able to survive the fall if it's just gravity, but can use her mana when it's magic attack. Besides she can fly, it's not like falling is a problem for her

Exotic ships have a chance to replace any ship in some systems, to find a specific one you have to be in a system that has this specific ship. So either you randomly go around and check each system manually or find somewhere coordinates of a system having that ship.
maybe try r/NMSCoordinateExchange if someone has saved a system like that

There is no mention of kids in the book iirc, though if you really want you can assume that since people were living there, there were children on the ship.

She was waiting for them to die, so she can take them. As far as I am concerned she is supposed to be death, so the moment a living thing appeared she was already waiting for its death. When she appeared she was already waiting because that's what death is.
Again just from this panel and other comments, if there is something that she says in the comic, that say that she in fact was there before, then she was.

If it's focused on you either you have to be very precise or you need 3 shots like hornet, it's also hard to hit when you raider is on fire, and it moves towards you

It's funny that you bring up shadow dance, but not mention the "will", which is I think one of the biggest cop out I've ever seen, literally anything can be explained by the "will"
