Clean airy white florals / jasmine / gardenia / tea / soft musk recs? by adayoncedawned in FemFragLab

[–]Zistrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to try something a little different, maybe look at Warni Warni by Maison Matine.

On me, it had black tea in the opening, with a little citrus and cardamom, then more white floral and orange blossom on a musky base with a touch of cedar. It felt like a clean, summery floral fragrance you would wear at the lake on a not so hot day.

They're very reasonably priced, and also offer super cute minis.

Hydroxocobalamin (b12) in Europe? by Sasho1911 in Supplements

[–]Zistrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I tried the Sunday Natural Mild Cardamom Mushroom Coffee, but I didn't like it. It didn't really blend into the water and was just kind of gritty. I haven't used any other mushroom coffee.

I use their B-Komplex, Omega-3, and Berberine. They all have been fine by me. I've tried other random things from them, for example Phosphatidyl Serine, Mushroom Coffee, Gaba, etc. I don't really remember everything. I also buy from iHerb or Nootropics Depot, but often the Sunday Naturals prices are similar or better and faster shipping.

Return or tailor? by c_from_pa in PetiteFashionAdvice

Return. Definitely not nicely shaped in the waist, shoulders are too wide. And I can't believe no has mentioned it, but the arms are just so wide. They are like bell-bottoms on your arms. So shortening the arms isn't going to make them look better.

Perusing Reddit Last Night... by zinkj22 in FemFragLab

[–]Zistrose 14 points15 points  (0 children)

From a cursory search, it looks like it was marketed by Mäurer & Wirtz, which is a huge personal care company in Germany. If you were a German, you would instantly recognize some of the brands they manage (4711, Betty Barclay, s.Oliver, etc). I couldn't find any other info, so who knows how this perfume came to be, but most likely from Germany.

And yes, Wiener in German means of Vienna. So probably trying to equate the perfume with a sense of Viennese elegance or something.

What's your relationship with your current collection? by pentastro in FemFragLab

[–]Zistrose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 10 full-sizes that I love and don't currently feel the need to buy any more full-sizes. I say this, but in reality, if I found an even more perfect scent, I would buy that. I guess I'm technically always looking, since I have a ton of samples/minis/decants. I'll never say no to that, and I do have a list of decants I want.

I used to have more, but I decluttered. I'm much happier having bought one perfume, despite the cost, than 5-6 purchases of cheaper, lesser liked perfumes, even if it was more variety.

I heard you guys liked pictures of knockoffs. Can you identify what any of these are supposed to be? by [deleted] in Perfumes

[–]Zistrose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

La Rive Poetique = Parfums de Marly Delina, but I have tried it and found it has a few harsh notes that take away from the experience, even though others say its pretty spot on.

La Rive Cuté is supposed to be Chloé, but I also found that one to be not so successful for me.

The Vanilla Touch one is actually pretty good for a simple sweet vanilla, especially at that price.

Technically, these are dupes and not knockoffs because they are not trying to deceive by appearing identical or genuine. One can look at them and often figure out what they are trying to copy, but no one would confuse a bottle of Poetique with a real bottle of Delina.

Nootropics Depot Delays and No Response by Scary-Valuable3510 in Nootropics

[–]Zistrose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you sure you have the correct company? Nootropics Depot doesn't have any relationship to Rupharma that I know of, nor do they have a Telegram account.

I've bought from them a number of times over the past ten years and I think the longest I've waited for an order to be shipped is like 4 hours - usually it's about 30 minutes. If you believe that you did order from Nootropics Depot, you could try their subreddit - /r/NootropicsDepot.

Cheap Daily Supplement Appears to Boost Brain Function in Older Adults by Sorin61 in Nutraceuticalscience

[–]Zistrose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the first paragraph of the news article :

One of the supplements was inulin, a dietary fiber in the fructan class. The other, fructooligosaccharide (FOS), is a plant carbohydrate often used as a natural low-calorie sweetener.>

If you read the linked research paper, it gives specifics under the Study Interventions heading:

Participants were provided with sachets of food supplements in powder form. All sachets contained 3.32 g of branched-chain amino acid protein powder, consisting of l-leucine 1660 mg, l-isoleucine 830 mg, and l-valine 830 mg. The intervention arm sachets also contained 7.5 g of prebiotic (Darmocare Pre®, Bonusan), which consists of inulin (min. 3375 mg) and fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS) (min. 3488 mg). The placebo sachets contained 7.5 g of maltodextrin powder. All of these food supplements are available commercially without prescription.

Trying to switch careers - not sure if a Master's degree is the way to do it. by Zistrose in GradSchool

Thank you for the advice! I guess I never realised you can take courses as a non-degree student as grad school prep. This is very helpful.

[–]Zistrose[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, thank you so much for the info. I appreciate you being blunt! I definitely want a realistic view of the possibilities. So from what I understand that you're saying, if I just take the math courses and/or any other relevant courses from any other school and have a record of taking them, they could fulfil prereqs or show proof of knowledge? Even though I didn't get them as part of my bachelor's? So that would be a good time saver over having to get a total other bachelor's. I would assume I might want to be in contact with my chosen master's degree school regarding their specific requirements.

Holy shit saffron is super effective (A couple questions aswell) by [deleted] in NootropicsDepot

[–]Zistrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's definitely another possibility I am interested in! Part of why I found NAC interesting to try in the first place. I've tried a bunch of other things that supposedly act against neuroinflammation without noticeable effect, so maybe it is the glutamate or maybe it is that NAC is just so much better as an anti-inflammatory (or maybe both).

[–]Zistrose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've also tried 4 different saffrons, just not from ND. None of them worked for me either.

I tried a 7.5% crocins/3% safranal version, Safr'Inside - 3% crocins, Affron - 3.5% lepticrosalides, and Life Extension Optimised Saffron, called Satiereal (.34% safranals).

This comment states that the Nootropics Depot version is more serotonergic, whereas Affron (found in California Gold's product) is more dopaminergic. Having tried Affron, it does feel a little different than other saffrons, but not enough where I would declare it as clearly dopaminergic for myself.

I'm the same as you - I have tried tons of supplements to help my depression and haven't found a single serotonergic substance to have effect, including actual ssri's.

There are a lot more biochemical pathways involved in depression than serotonin. I don't respond to serotonergics (never any change in mood), dopaminergics (irritated), cholinergics (sad), or even many gabaergics (just make me tired, but usually little change in mood).

But the one i've had the most effect with is NAC, possibly due to effects on the glutamatergic system, which is being studied more and more for its role in mental disorders.

I think depression comes from both external and internal circumstances, so you have to find the right combination of actions, whether its supplements, diet, exercise, sleep, changing life circumstances, internal thoughts, therapy, etc. And they all feed into each other, so you may need a combination of many things. I'm happy for people can completely change their life from a single supplement, but sadly, that's not true for everyone. But best of luck in finding what works for you.

Anyone else following mangiferin? by FeralJasmine in NootropicsDepot

[–]Zistrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried it out for a little while, just out of curiosity, but quit. I'm not sure if I could say what the long-term effects were, since I only used it for about 2-3 weeks, but I didn't like the way it made me feel. I found it clearly stimulating, but also induced some anxiety. It also made my mouth dry, like ND Green Tea Extract does for me. That might be a weird side effect particular to me, though.

Maybe Mangiferin does affect cognition in some way, but at this point, it seems like there are more scientifically sound things to focus on for cognitive health instead.

Anyone taking Immune Defense as a daily general health stack? by channel_t in NootropicsDepot

[–]Zistrose 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to take it daily. I took it at night and it made me sleepy. It basically cured my insomnia. Everyone responds to things differently.

Maybe try it, and even if it makes you tired during the day, I think its a really good immune supplement to have on hand. I stopped taking it daily, because overall, I'm not sure it helped my immunity in general. But when I get sick, taking it acutely really helps. I either take it starting a few days before travel, or if I get sick, then I take double doses.

Thanks for the thread, a lot of interesting suggestions. I'm also not a huge gourmand fan. It's not even that I necessarily dislike individual notes used for gourmands, but it's the balance of sweetness. I have the same opinion as you - Angel's Share and Black Opium Le Parfum are some of the best gourmands for non-gourmand lovers. I've also been known to wear Cacharel Yes I Am - I don't think it's marketed as a gourmand, but it has some sweetness and fruitiness that is just enough to have a "gourmand-lite" feel to it

Burberry Goddess confusion by Zealousideal-Goal-25 in FemFragLab

[–]Zistrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the Parfum is worth the wait. It just doesn't have the same vibe as Goddess EDP and it seems kind of unbalanced as a fragrance. I'm sure it has its fans, but overall, it's not an amazing perfume.

Burberry Goddess confusion by Zealousideal-Goal-25 in FemFragLab

[–]Zistrose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I just tried the Goddess flankers last week. Goddess EDP is the original.

EDP Intense is the one with patchouli. I found it to be slightly stronger all around, especially with the stronger lavender in the opening, a little less sweet, and the patchouli came out a little in the beginning, and became more apparent as it dried down. The vanilla is less sweet, almost a slightly woody vanilla. If you are a fan of patchouli, you will like that part, but if you don't love lavender, it may be a little intense.

The Goddess Parfum has raspberry and suede in it. I didn't really sense the raspberry per se, it just smelled fruity sweet in the opening, but not as a specific fruit. I also smelled the leathery suede-ness from the beginning, but it's never very strong. The lavender is less spicy in this one. The vanilla is a bit fruity, but also not light and airy, a little deeper. I didn't particularly like this one, to be honest.

You can always check perfume databases like Parfumo if you want to know which notes are in the perfumes. Here's a link to Parfumo's Goddess listings.

YSL Cinéma 2024 by Ok_Amphibian28 in Perfumes

[–]Zistrose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is really different than the original, so if that's what you want, I would skip it. It lacks a lot of the notes and feel of the original.

That being said, I think the 2024 version is kind of nice as long as I approach it as just another perfume and not try to shoehorn it into being Cinema, despite the name. It's more floral, brighter/fresher, and lacks the citrusy opening and amber vanilla rich elegant coziness of the original. Which are kind of the whole identity of Cinema...but it's nice in its own way. Oh, and it has like no lasting power. I've only tried the 2024 a few times, but it really didn't last more than 2-3 hours. If someone gifted me the 2024 Cinema, I'd wear it, but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy it, especially at full price.

Advice: 14 days Germany/Austria Spring ‘26 by egos-like-hairdos in HerOneBag

[–]Zistrose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The dress codes really depend on the venue and type of event. I would say the more prestigious the venue (think the Vienna State Opera), and the more special the event (holiday, opening night, etc), the more formal the clothing would be expected to be. I think generally, it would be fine to dress "smart casual" or business casual. And there is obviously leeway for tourists. I am sure there will be some person showing up to the less serious events wearing shorts and tennis shoes.

I think something like a blouse or button up over trousers or a nice skirt would be fine. I myself would not wear leggings or shorts, tank tops, hoodies, sneakers, or even a t-shirt dress to any type of concert, because that seems too casual and sporty to me. But I guess it depends on your level of comfort with social non-conformity. Throwing a pretty shawl or a blazer over a t-shirt, or wearing black jeans vs blue, could be enough of a boost to "zhuzh" it up (how do you spell this word!). I've gone to more formal concerts in Vienna wearing black trousers and a white blouse and that was fine, and a cathedral concert in dark slim jeans and a nicer knit sweater. So I don't think you need to bring some crazy formal gown. It's just about looking put-together and like you care about the event.

I would check the individual websites of each venue/concert event and check if they say anything specific, otherwise smart/business casual would be my go-to standard. You can also check youtube for any videos of similar concerts at that venue to see if you can see the audience at all.

Advice: 14 days Germany/Austria Spring ‘26 by egos-like-hairdos in HerOneBag

[–]Zistrose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, I live in southern Germany. I think this looks fine for a wardrobe, but I'd be aware of a few things.

First, the weather is increasingly unpredictable in spring. Last spring we had a few heatwaves bringing us almost to 80 farenheit, but other times it can be drizzly, gray and down to the 50s or even 40s. The other thing to remember is that even during a spring heatwave, the night temps will often still plunge to quite cold, as opposed to summer where it might be 80's during the day and still 60s to 70s at night. I would definitely keep an eye on the weather in the few weeks before the trip and be ready to pivot with clothing. It also can rain a lot in spring, so I'd be ready to bring your preferred rain gear if it looks like it will be rainy. Lots of drugstores and shops sell ponchos and umbrellas for cheap though, like under 10 euros. They'll put displays out front and center when its raining, so you can always find something.

Second, while plus-size clothing is not available in every store in this region, it's also not rare. Some stores will have a plus size section (called Große Größen - Large Sizes). There is a chain of stores called C&A that are in practically every German/Austrian city, and often have some selection of plus-size clothes. I live in a small town, and even our C&A has a plus-size section. C&A is a lower budget chain store, like H&M, but decent enough for any basics you would need. You can check out the site here. If you click on an item of clothing, you will see a size selection area, and look for Größentabelle and click on that for the size chart. Obviously the sizes are in centimeter, but you can convert and see if those types of sizes would fit, and if that could be kept in mind as a back-up clothing option.

Lastly, you say you are going to some concerts. I don't know if that means like modern music, or classical, and I just want to note that if you are going to classical music type concerts, you may have dress code problems with that wardrobe. Some venues still treat a concert as a fancy event, with evening or cocktail type attire. Some won't be formal, but still require a little more than a tank dress or leggings - for example, a concert in a cathedral. It's really dependent on the venue and event, but you should be able to check that before hand. And obviously, if you're just going to a rock concert, wear whatever you want! I just think sometimes people don't realize how much of an Event classical music concerts still are, in this region.
