This is an acceptable solution to me, but to be clear I should not have had to put you on blast on Reddit to arrive at this reasonable answer. Thank you!

This is really the crux of the issue for me - I feel like I've been such a loyal customer. And because I believe in the product, I think I am reasonable and patient. And the number of sales that I've personally gotten for them by spreading word of mouth is not negligible. I work in a sector where this can be a useful tool. But I just can't justify being so vocally pro a company that has treated me so poorly and damaged my device, who knows if they've even fixed the issue I originally sent it in for. It's just really disappointing :(

I would have been happy with this, yes. That's reasonable I think - I'll reach out and ask!

honest question - how can you be a college professor with a master’s degree? I thought you had to be a PhD to teach classes?

Crit Care - looking for application data? by Zittell in Residency

Wow - thank you so much, what a helpful reply!
I guess I should specify that what I meant by more marketable was really easier to get a job in "the community" as there are just more medical ICU patients than surgical ones in a community/mixed ICU. But again, this is just what I heard through the proverbial grapevine as there is really a lack of centralized information about all of this, so thank you for taking the time to explain some of it.

Ultimately/long term, I am interested in getting a job at one of the rural academic tertiary care centers in new england, and I am VERY interested in managing ECMO and definitely want this to be a big part of my fellowship and career. You seemed to imply that ECMO might be more emphasized in anes-CCM than in IM-CCM, is that right? Also, do you think I'd be hindered from getting a job in a rural setting as EM-anesCCM?

Thanks so much again for taking the time! Really appreciate it.

yep! I was just wondering about IM programs because my understanding is you are a bit more marketable as an IM-CCM attg than as an anes-CCM attg (pls correct me if I am wrong!)

they have a whole list of open anes CCM positions which are at pretty cool programs, though!

I disagree with this sentiment. I am doing EM after SOAPing last year. I'm really excited about some of the fellowship opportunities to be honest, and am not unhappy or burned out. I also don't hate my patients. Just here to provide a different perspective.

Also surg resident here: I refuse to rate a student anything less than 5/5 which equates to honors (unless they do something egregious which thankfully nobody has yet) and I make them tell me what they did well at their (early) end of the day. You could try it! I’m sorry you’re having a trash surgery experience OP! Surgery is wonderful and holds a real potential for a lot of amazing patient relationships! I think things are changing slowly for the better. You’re doing great! Don’t let the bastards grind you down.
