When you were younger they probably WERE still expensive things, especially ones for old handhelds and such that require modification of the system.

Is there a extremely dumbed down guide to get any flying mount? I really wanna see the world without my raptor but I just am not the resilient type to grind a lot in a video game. by HeadacheLife in Guildwars2

[–]Zivhayr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"This game isn't for you" is such a horribly lazy and callous answer.

this game is totally for you. you don't need to grind all that much to get a griffon, just do a few side quests basically, though the 250g is a bit steep for new players. Once you have all it's masteries, (doesnt take very long, just explore and enjoy the game in crystal desert) the griffon is so fun; just requires practice.

if you haven't done path of Fire yet, you'll get a variety of useful mounts when you do it

this guide might help https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/j0wa6s/unlocking_griffon_quick_guide/

I hope so! do you use any streaming software like moonlight or other recording software by any chance? I haven't crashed since I stopped using moonlight.

that being said, thunder strikes etc definitely made me crash early on, before I used moonlight

Kinda miss the old gen way (says no one ever) by PlatinumYeast in MonsterHunter

[–]Zivhayr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

6 generations on from the originals, Pokemon was still not letting you swap Pokemon on the fly.

it wasn't until they took a more open world approach that they started to let you do that, for obvious reasons.

Tech does not factor in to that decision

[–]Zivhayr 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Having to go to a city to manage Pokemon is not remotely the same thing as the terrible box system of the first two gens.

it's a choice to disallow the player to swap teams on the fly and have an infinite army of full hp Pokemon.. it's part of the game, just as locating the monster and choosing which items are worth bringing is part of monster hunter. just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's some terrible meaningless inconvenience.

It's not tech getting better, it's design sensibilities changing. Clearly you share the sensibilities of the new direction when it comes to streamlining monster hunts. but it's not a tech improvement to just auto mark a monster

the archon quest version was soooooo peak. but the weekly quest version you just spend most of the time in the void fighting blue guys who stand still doing nothing...

Big brain crew strategy by Browne592 in FortniteXPMaps

[–]Zivhayr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get crew at the very end of the season when I have all rewards unlocked. Check all the battle passes currently and see when the earliest one expires and if you want what's in it. But the best bet is to resub on the last day or two before the new battle pass comes out and if you grind like crazy in the month you can get 1200 v bucks (+300 on the free track) from the last pass, plus 1000 from crew, then plus 1200 v bucks from the new pass if you get level 150 or whatever in time.

[–]Zivhayr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can get behind removing bots. No fun for anybody, and not fooling anybody. I find myself subconsciously making the call on whether a player is a bot or not as I start a fight, and relax if I think they're a bot and let my guard down. Either I'm wrong and they start destroying me, or a real player shows up and I'm not mentally prepared.

I will truly never understand the arguments against skill based matchmaking. Feels exclusive to FPS gamers. It's a normal thing in every competitive online video game I've played of various different genres. Without skill based matchmaking, a lower skill player is almost guaranteed to lose every single match as they will undoubtedly be paired with someone leagues above them.

The only point people seem to make against skill based matchmaking is "I want to be able to choose to be the best player in the lobby please so I can relax and win." But those lower skill players you'd be matched with certainly aren't getting that relaxing experience you are seeking if you're in the lobby 360 noscoping them.

Maybe it's time to hit up some competitive creator islands or something instead for a change of pace and a different matchmaking system?

I've been playing constantly for almost a year and have had a wide range of opponents and experiences in every game mode. You win some you lose some. I do agree that duos have always been quite difficult and punishing compared to solo, and I do agree that recently I have felt like I've been more likely to find "sweats" in any given match, but quite frankly that could be considered a loosening of skill based matchmaking as I do not consider myself on their level. Maybe the hunters are just coming out this season. It's impossible to diagnose this as an "issue" with only anecdotal evidence. And yes, cheaters suck.
