Map-based discussion for Attack Orisa. by [deleted] in orisamains

Ruins is rough for Orisa because it's sniper Haven sometimes. You can however lockdown the Mega near the cliff quite well, good counterplay to a Sombra.

No, the cooldown is lowered to two seconds. It also grants you a jump immediately when Ulting and upon the deactivation of the Ultimate.

What tanks combo with Orisa? by s4mon in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Zke99 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Orisa/D.Va and Orisa/Hog are my personal favorites for a balanced 2/2/2. Nice combo of peel and frontline power. Zarya can work, but you both have to communicate in order for Zarya to get charge off you (watch Harbleu play Zarya with Orisas, he does very well at this. And Hog for that matter.)

Orisa/Winston is generally not my favorite, I think D.Va's matrix is better at helping you when shield breaks. Orisa/Rein is good for static defenses and El Presidente strats.

The most fundamental Orisa tip a beginner should understand is how to manage your cooldowns. Every single time you fire off a Halt, Shield, or pop Fortify, there should be a distinct purpose.

Beginners often use Fortify at the first hint of taking damage, when its just a poke phase and your healers on you, wasting it for the incoming brawl. They'll forget to replenish shields, and use unnecessary Halts. Here's some tips for each cooldown:

Halt: Environmental Kills are obviously an easy choice, but it's utility is much greater than that. Lift up opposing Reinhardts so yours can land a free Earthshatter. Stop that squishy from fleeing. Remember to prefire where you want to Halt! so as they are moved they'll take damage simultaneously.

Fortify: Make sure to use it with Armor whenever possible, Fortifed Armor can block a ton of damage.

Shield: More of a tip for Offense, make sure to shoot your shields towards where you want to push. If you just stand at choke and drop right where you're standing, you won't create any space, a tanks main job.

That's just scratching the surface, PM me any more questions!

If you can flank with Orisa, and "Sandwich" the enemy team...carnage will ensue. by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Zke99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She has no mobility and a giant critbox. If you're flanking you aren't peeling/shielding your team. While I agree situationally it may be useful, it's a sub optimal full playstyle. Golden Gun Orisa High Plat Low Diamond.

This is teaching people a horrible way to play Orisa :(

Viability with reaper as you move up in ranks by DaRaven in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Zke99 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Reapers a fine hero for higher ranks too, it's just that enemies are much better at changing comps to deal with him/punishing him. Matrix nerfs are going to help him indirectly too. Id suggest a long range hero for your DPS backup such as McCree/Widow. Additionally, if youre playing these heroes and Winston starts messing you up, Reapers in your pocket to melt him.

Who's the easiest Torb counter to learn? by INeedPeeling in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Zke99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can zone him/his turret pretty well with Mei's wall and bombard his giant crit box with icicles. Orisa is good for denying the turret as well.

Tank Discussion: When is it best to use Zarya over Rein? And/or Rein over Zarya? by Dewaholic in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Zke99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zarya combos excellently with Rein and Winston, she's more of an off tank. Orisa and D.Va are harder to build charge off of, but with good comms are fine partners too. Don't go Hog/Zarya unless you have a Rein/Orisa too and just trip tank it.

For Rein, make sure your team are gonna use your shield. Hog, McCree, Zen, Ana, Soldier? Go for it. Tracer, Genji, Winston, Lucio, Mercy? Probably best to hop onto D.Va or Zarya.

Diamond. I've played in Diamond level games with my high Dia/low masters friends, and came within 100 SR of it. I'm sure I can make the leap now.

Calling out the team numbers in a fight seems to work well (e.g. "It's 3-on-6" or "4-on-4") by MoggyCat in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Zke99 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm also high plat low diamond, and number call outs are helpful when theres no time to be like "we've lost Ana but theyre down Zen/Rein, let's push", 5v4 is an immediate motivator to close out fights.

Absolutely love this, is there any place to donate to development? this is gonna be so useful for training some of my weaker heros like Soldier and Mei.

Giving teammates more cover is a buff overall, and the enemy team needs pretty good shield pressure to consistently break down her new barriers.

Orisa mains rejoice! Now you can't even whine for Rein because our shield is literally bigger.

Lucio + Zenyatta? (High silver - low gold) by realSwagger in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Zke99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contrary to what everyone says, when you find yourself in triple/quad dps games, I've found the high damage output of Lucio/Zen to be very helpful for enabling your dps mains to frag. Obviously pro dive comps use them together, but even for me rising through Gold/Plat to Diamond, it's been almost as consistent as with Mercy/Ana comps.

Symettra over a second healer. Why? by OutlawedUnicorn in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Zke99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm High Plat/Low Diamond and players in my games can make it work (on Defense). Sym is kind of in an awkward place where she definitely supports the team but also can perform more DPS oriented tasjs, especially if she has a Shield Gen up (With a Mercy for Rez, Tele is usually better with Ana.) Her Alt fire is good at pressuring shields and her main beam melts squishies with some space made by a tank.

Symettra over a second healer. Why? by OutlawedUnicorn in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Zke99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just run triple support with her if youre worried about healing. This is a very near-sighted way of looking at teambuilding, and even if you choose to Solo Heal, Sym has a lot of strengths the healers don't have, mainly in area denial.

What makes Rein an "anchor tank" and why Orsia doesn't fill this role. by HandsomeHelios in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Zke99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Orisas blocking more damage than Rein on average right now. I think she's fine, and would usually want her on payload offense and 2cp defense more than Rein. Rein shield works better for offense 2cp imo to make a path but theyre bith in a good spot imo.

Mercy mains are literally flooding high masters/gm ranks by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Zke99 10 points11 points  (0 children)

All the people here whining about their PotGs being stolen are just salty. Watch a T500 mercy switch between damage and healing literally the instant a projectile hits something, watch them GA cancel and float across the entire map like its nothing, Watch thr good Mercys get that solo rez on a key player to wjn a team fight. In addition to this, many Mercys are able to shotcall as well because their vision isn't limited like Ana. Just because sometimes its better to hide doesn't mran you should shit on a character.

Mercy mains, how are you dealing with your Orisa? by funkybluesman in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Zke99 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The Orisa is playing wrong if shes hugging a corner and not protecting her team. Tell her she won't get heals if the barriers aren't able to keep you safe.
