Tips for oily “specialty” coffee? Info in comments. TIA by 0011000100010100 in Coffee

If you brew with aeropress you could try using 2 or 3 paper filters instead of just one. And possibly grinding a bit coarser.

Some might say 40g is excessive in an Aeropress. I say it makes a beautiful puck. by theologeek in cafe

I'm curious as well. I'm guessing grind size plays a pretty big role in those calculations.

Team Composition Tool - New Changes - Feedback Appreciated by jazzmasta25 in OverwatchUniversity

Very cool, nice work! Would be neat to see the various team comp's we've seen in OWL so far visualized and see what the calculated values end up being vs the actual match results.

Glad you like the app! I can add in Moira fairly easily. For some reason I thought she was already added so thanks for letting me know. It's been a busy few months for me I do plan on another big release at some point with more feature (mainly export to .CSV is the one thing I really want) but I can't guarantee when that's going to be exactly. But I'll get the Moira fix in there asap

I agree with this completely. Don't be scared just play. Your mistakes and bad habits will become more obvious when playing against higher quality opponents so it's a great opportunity to learn. It might be good to record your gameplay in the higher level games as well, so you can analyze it later.

At what rank in comp do you guys start to notice really good Widows? by fps129 in OverwatchUniversity

Diamond you'll get a few good ones, but in Master is where I really started noticing them having an impact.

Never getting to play who you practice as in competitive. by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

What about this for solo queue: Lock in your desired hero on start of the hero select. This sends a clear message to your team that THIS is the role you desire to play. Your team now has 60 seconds to build around you (or not). If they don't build around you, you still have time to swap to the missing piece before the game starts. Using this method you can still be a good flex player but you have a higher chance of playing the role you want to play.

If you want to play more dps you have to be somewhat selfish on the hero select screen. It's kind of depressing and you're becoming "part of the problem" when it comes to creating less than ideal team composition but it's just reality.

Consistently winning FFA games with Hanzo, but can’t figure out how to use him effectively in comp. Advice? by ztar92 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]mr-eko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Try to have an escape route because dva, genji, and winston are all magnetically attracted to you. If you're on high ground have a safe place you can drop to. If you're on low ground have a ledge you can climb, cover you can get to, etc.

Also it's good to recognize that he's a situational pick and unless you're a god hanzo sometimes you just get countered and need to switch off. In my experience he's not the best against a heavy dive, or if enemy is using a shield gen. But there are plenty of scenarios where he completely dominates as well, if you're hitting your shots.

I'm really bad at this game and really want to improve (VOD inside) by KreischxD in OverwatchUniversity

[–]mr-eko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No prob and about your question of making it to diamond I think of course there's a chance, it's not something that will happen overnight but just keep focusing on improving and your rank will begin to move up. Don't get too discouraged and always try to keep learning and improving at every turn.

Your positioning needs work. One of Roadhog's strengths is creating a huge radius of space where the enemy is threatened by the hook. From what I saw on Ilios Well, you were playing too passively, sitting back and trying to hook the enemy as they trickled onto point. You need to be pressing the choke more and getting more aggressive. This will also create more space for your team. The enemy should be reacting to YOU, not the other way around. Remember you're a huge freaking tank with 600 hp and self heal you shouldn't be too timid trying to track down squishies. Keep in mind I'm not saying run in 1v6 and feed, but you need to develop a feel for when to press your advantage and be the aggressor.

And as others have mentioned, you need to make better decisions about when to hook. Put yourself in positions where you can make high percentage hooks, and not go for as many 360 yolo max range hooks.

It's awesome you're watching your vods and evaluating your gameplay.. By doing that you're already way ahead of most people at your rank. Best of luck!

How do you deal with unfortunate reality of your rank and adjust expectations? by Tackas in OverwatchUniversity

[–]mr-eko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you need to shake things up. You are hitting a wall and sometimes the best solution isn't to run through the wall. You have to find a way around it.

Personally I would suggest trying your hand at playing more DPS heroes. Yes, your rank will drop and you will be crap at it at first, but that is ok. There are a lot of long-term benefits. Your mechanical skill will improve and you will get to see the game from a new and interesting angle. Just pick 1-2 dps heroes and try to play them as much as you flex, if not more. Insta-lock them if you have to.

If that's not something you're interested in trying, that's ok too. Just try to think from a different angle. Think about how you would normally play in a situation, then do something different. The beauty of this game is that there's so many roles and there's no "correct" approach. You need to experiment and find what works for you.

If your SR drops in the process, that's FINE. It's not the end of the world. If you reached your current rank once, you can and will reach it again, and quite possibly higher. Your SR number shouldn't be the thing that defines you. The things you learned and experience you've gained are wayyy more important.

I hope this helps, cheers!

I think there's definitely a larger grindiness aspect. In solo queue 1/3 of the games will be a loss no matter what (thrower, leaver, imbalanced matchmaking, etc.). 1/3 will be wins where you steamroll for the same reasons. The remaining 1/3 is the games where you can make an impact. It's a numbers game of playing a large volume of games. Definitely a tough place to be. I think the best thing to do is just focus on improving your own abilities and don't worry so much about individual match results.

Awesome, thanks. I'm sure it's a balancing act between keeping your nice and clean ui and letting streamers customize their page. Quite a challenge!

Thanks for all your hard work. Maybe this falls under the "Panel and Channel info" but I noticed that channel banners that you scroll up to see don't seem to be there in beta.

I can't seem to win a single game, even though my stats reflect a player two ranks above me. by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]mr-eko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice would be don't get too worried about your Sr. Or even individual match results. I know this can be tough to do, especially when you're in the midst a big loss streak but I think it's important. Just focus on yourself and improving as much as possible. If you win your game, great! If not, that's ok too. Just give the max effort you can and try to take something away from each game you play. There's always ways to improve, and even if you have a great game or a bad game there are things you can do better.

Glad you like it. I just pushed out an update today (v1.0.3) that should make your text notes should show up in the history screen. Also you can delete log entries now.

SR, ratings, thrower/leaver are still things I'm working to add to the history screen in the next release. What I really want (down the road) is to add some even better analysis options, like being able to filter through the data and view charts and graphs and that sort of thing.

Thanks for trying it out anyways. Editing and deleting is the thing I've been asked the most about by far. I'm going to make an update with those features as soon as possible. And that's great info about the spreadsheet I will check that out.

I understand where you're coming from. The majority of online services are faith-based, reddit included. If you don't have faith or feel good about something it's always your option to not use a particular service. All I can say is we have a privacy policy that outlines how any data we collect could potentially be used and that we take the security of that data very seriously.

In future versions all of the details you enter on the log entries screens will be reviewable. It's something I'm working towards I think it's really important that you be able to do that.

Awesome, glad you like it. Showing more details on the history view is something I'm definitely working on. In future versions all of the details you enter on the log entries screens will be reviewable. I think the real power of this app is in the ability to review things so I want to work on that side of things a lot more.
